About us
Empowering business so people and nature prosper. The Sustainable Business Network is New Zealand’s largest, longest-standing sustainable business organisation. Our network consists of hundreds of progressive organisations and people that collectively invest in and act on system change. Together we focus on climate, waste and water. We’re a social enterprise, a community and a movement. Our role is to transform leading ideas into action in Aotearoa. It’s easy to join our independent network as an Investor for Impact. Investors invest in people and nature by funding our essential work on system change. This enables us to influence and transform the climate, waste and water systems together.

🚀 What happens when you mashup waste, circular design, and a slice of rizz? Find out on Tuesday 29th at our hi-energy morning of connections, caffeine, and a bold mashup of waste-to-product solutions, courtesy of two of the hottest circular economy protagonists (and social media influencers 😉) Rui Peng from Critical. and Anson Kong from Spacebar Design. These two circular jedi are using the force to turn plastic hard hats at eol into great circular products. If you're ready to remix your approach to waste, we’ll see you there! 🎶♻️ Sustainable Business Network investors exclusively though .... so if not part of the whanau, get with the programme already. 💚 Rego deets in the comments.

Cool news: I'm hosting a live recording of This Climate Business with economist and former Productivity Commissioner Ganesh Nana at Sustainable Business Network and Rachel Brown ONZM (She/Her) on November 7. Whoop! Ganesh is a passionate Kiwi with strong thoughts about creating an economy that's "better for all". I'll explore with Ganesh the foundations of a new regenerative, circular economy that prioritizes rights, rules, and obligations we can all agree upon. We’ll delve into the objectives of our economic system and challenge the traditional “more is better” mindset, examining how we can create an economy that truly serves everyone, including future generations — ensuring choices are meaningful, not just plentiful. Be part of the live audience - and enjoy some great coffee and quality networking. #sustainability #productivity #nz #economics #equity Rachel Brown ONZM (She/Her) https://lnkd.in/gNb_qKJu

Get in to WIN, on every level. 😊
📢 Our National Machine Count project aims to figure out where all the fossil fuel machines are, how much energy they use and how much it will cost to swap them for electric equivalents. The data we collect will help us show the potential savings and emissions reductions. ⚡ If that isn't enough of an incentive, we've also got some great prizes on offer and anyone who fills in our new Businesses & Institutions survey goes in the draw for a trip for two for two nights at Kinloch Lodge Ltd worth over $2,000, some electric cherries from Forest Lodge Orchard and, the latest addition to the prize pool, a 7 kWh AC EV charger donated by Panasonic New Zealand Ltd. and valued at $1,100! 🚗🔌 Whether you're looking to install it at your business premises for staff or visitors, or outside for public use, EV chargers put your location on the map, attract foot traffic, and make zero-emissions travel easy in your local neighbourhood. And with the option for a single or 3-phase installation*, it's a perfect fit for both residential and commercial use. ⏳ The survey will take just 10-15 minutes, and you need to complete it before 11:59pm, 8 November 2024 to be in with a chance! 👉 Take the survey now! - https://loom.ly/U2pmjZc *Installation is not included.

Our man Andy put on his closest to decent shirt the other day (with his wonky glasses) to present our submission to the The Crown Minerals Amendment Bill. We hope it was worth it. It was an odd experience, speaking to what turned out to be largely friendly MPs about a proposal that we described as: "unnecessary, rushed and retrograde", as well as "unlikely to solve any issues claimed, while being likely to trigger other negative outcomes." These included possible "complicity in the death and displacement of millions of people." Although there were MPs there from the parties proposing the Bill, not one of them questioned or criticized that assessment in the few minutes they had to respond. That, combined with the ludicrously short submission period of a few days around a holiday weekend, makes us wonder whether they were really listening, or had simply been told to turn up and smile, because they consider it all a foregone conclusion? Just so we didn't completely waste all our time, our full submission is linked in the comments below.
