In our submission on government proposals to review taxation in the not-for-profit sector took the opportunity to advocate for fair taxation across the board. This includes calling for increasing fair taxation for ultra-high net worth individuals and corporations, via capital gains, inheritance taxes and other measures. This is so that charities are not increasingly left to deal with the negative consequences of inequitable and unsustainable systems. We emphasised the importance of financial buffers for charities - to weather economic fluctuations and crises, maintain operations during funding changes and align with multi-year philanthropic cycles. We supported increased safeguards for donor-controlled charities, while also rewarding, rather than penalising, the prudent financial management that enables larger charities to tackle the major systemic issues of our times. Government procurement is worth 20% of NZ's GDP, and the rules behind it are changing. 💸📈 Join Eco Choice Aotearoa in person or via livestream to get to grips with the changes and how your business can push for better! Register here: https://lnkd.in/gvieaTCN This rule change is a huge opportunity to prioritise good environmental and social outcomes in government buying for years to come.
The existing Government Procurement rules lack clear and measurable sustainability targets... And now, the proposed changes plan to remove explicit commitments around transitioning to a low-emissions economy and reducing waste... It's up to businesses to push for change. Eco Choice Aotearoa is holding an in-person discussion at Alberts NZ to help your business gain a clear understanding of the proposed changes, how procurement rules shape the market, and how you can take action. 🎤 Gain insights from industry experts such as Louise Nash, Qiulae Wong-Anthony and Michael Worth, plus our very own Laura Gemmell and Stella Hye Chung Jeon. ✍️ Learn how to submit feedback and push for better procurement policies that support a circular future. 📅 Monday, 31st March, arrival starts at 11.30am 📍 The Loft @ The Formery, Alberts, Auckland CBD Register here: https://lnkd.in/gvieaTCN #Ecolabel #SustainableProcurement #GovernmentProcurement #SustainableBusiness #CircularEconomy #BuyBetter #PublicProcurement #GreenEconomy #EmissionsReduction #ResponsibleBusiness

HAVE YOUR SAY BY 5PM TODAY! Want to support new ways to empower electricity consumers? NOW is your chance! The new rules would make sure: - large retailers offer a pricing plan that gives consumers cheaper rates for off-peak electricity - the price retailers pay to people who sell power to the network from solar systems reflects the true value of that power. The new rules would benefit all New Zealanders over time, because less demand on the electricity system leads to lower lines costs, which we all pay through our power bills. Have your say before 5pm! https://lnkd.in/gy3_DyKA
