This week our Waitaki Surfacing crew have completed the asphalt upgrade to the Penguin Colony carpark in Oamaru. The team started earlier in the year with some maintenance work to level out the existing carpark, fix up rough areas and replace the old edging. Last week the final layer of asphalt was laid followed by car park stoppers and line-marking. A well-deserved facelift for our local little buddies.

As a typically male dominant industry, we know how important it is to get behind Movember's global campaign to change the face of men's health. Check out the brave souls who have put their hands up to raise funds and awareness as part of the Whitestone Contracting Limited team. We appreciate each and everyone of you for supporting this cause. https://lnkd.in/gHrm9hXZ

Steve O'Kane, our acting Dunedin Divisional Manager thanking David Atkinson, Nursery Manager for Forest and Bird Waitaki Branch for assisting us with a supply of plants. We are about to replant the ephemeral creek that separates the two main parts of our depot in Oamaru. This is to provide screening from dust and to beautify the area in general. Forest and Bird do some wonderful mahi in our communities, find them on Facebook and see if you can free up some time to get involved in one of their community planting days.

Ray "Turbo" Turner is one of our most experienced machine operators. He has worked at Whitestone Contracting Limited for nearly 38 years and has been involved in a wide scope of projects over the years. Turbo is continuing to leave his legacy in the community, creating a number of new bike tracks at the Old Mill Bike Trails, with support from Whitestone Contracting and the North Otago Mountain Bike Club.

This is a site with repeated, historic pavement failures over the past few years. Working with the Waitaki District Council, it was agreed to remove the inside corner bank so a deeper water table could be installed away from the pavement edge. This will allow the water to drain better from the pavement. A subsoil drain was also installed to clear any excess water from this area. Ray Turner and Jade Tomkinson carried out a lot of work over a short amount of time, achieving great results that Whitestone Contracting Limited and Waitaki District Council are both proud of.
