Now, this is a #spectacular sight for a wintery Western Sydney night. 🎇❄️ With tunnel boring machine (TBM) Marlene’s 4.3-kilometre tunnelling journey now complete, our CPB Contractors team delivering the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport, Station Boxes and Tunnelling package have now successfully detached and removed the machine's 72-tonne cutterhead from the station box during a nighttime operation. Our CPB Contractors team in Victoria is always looking for new and innovative ways to positively influence our industry and help make real-world, job-ready skills accessible and attainable. 🆕We are #SoExcited to share details on the pilot of our newest skills program – Teens @ CPB Contractors – which gives high school students in years 10-12 a new pathway to a career in construction. Running during school holidays and after school hours when possible, the program includes a variety of work readiness activities such as: 🔶Building a CV and understanding LinkedIn 🔶Professional communication skills and active listening 🔶Job shadowing and goal setting The program also facilitates ongoing paid part-time employment opportunities, and as possible, our team works with the schools of program participants to help them complete employment-based learning pathways such as School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT) in addition to their VCE or Vocational Major. Sydney Metro is the most exciting project for the City of Sydney since the Harbour Bridge opened, and at only five days old, the new network is already improving the lives of thousands of people, providing faster, safer and more reliable connectivity across our city. It seems that 24 may be the magic number at Cross River Rail’s Woolloongabba station, with its final (and 24th) escalator successfully installed recently.⤴️⤵️✅ 📽️Check out the final escalator lift and a sneak peak at the escalator platform install process. Ready… set… BORE!💥☀️❇️ The first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) helping dig the North East Link tunnels has started its journey to Bulleen. The TBM is the first of two massive machines that our CPB Contractors team, as part of the SPARK consortium, will use to dig up 6.5km tunnels and future-proof Melbourne’s road network. In keeping with tradition, the two massive TBMs were named before tunnelling. Their names are Zelda and Gillian, after two groundbreaking local women in Melbourne's northeast. TBM Zelda and TBM Gillian will dig approximately 10 metres per day, and we’re pleased to report that they’re powered by 100 percent renewable electricity. For this #AroundTheGround, we’re flying through Melbourne to check on how Melbourne’s North East Link Project, being delivered by CPB Contractors as part of the SPARK consortium, is progressing. 🚁 📍 Lower Plenty Road site: Box excavation is progressing well, and once tunnelling here is complete, our team will begin work turning it into on-and-off ramps. 📍 Manningham and Trinity: the team here are preparing the site for the arrival of five roadheaders that will tunnel between the two sites. 📍 Yarra Link Green Bridge: Works here continue to progress with retaining walls recently constructed. Today's opening of the newest stage in Australia’s biggest public transport project – Sydney Metro – is being celebrated by commuters and construction teams alike! Having significantly contributed to almost every stage, our CPB Contractors team is taking a look back at some of our key milestones. 🤩😎👷 From breakthroughs to final fit-outs and everything in between, we’re very proud of the contributions made by our expert teams, including: 🔶 CPB Contractors’ design and construction of the project’s twin 15.5 kilometre tunnels and delivery of associated civil works in the city section with partners. 🔶 Our CPB Contractors teams delivery of mechanical and electrical room fit-outs along 31 kilometres of tunnels and six underground stations, connecting Sydney Metro City to the existing Metro North West Line in a joint venture with fellow CIMIC Group Limited company UGL. 🔶 CPB Contractors’ earlier construction of the Metro North West Line, which included twin 15 kilometre tunnels, 13 stations and 4000 new commuter car parking spaces with UGL. 📸 Please enjoy ten of the many shots captured of these packages of work in delivery over the past 10 years. #MyTeamBuiltThis ⏭ Want to hear more about what's happening across CPB Contractors? It’s a great day for Sydney commuters and a proud day for our CPB Contractors team as Sydney Metro’s brand-new Gadigal Station opens to passengers. 😄🎊✔️ Delivered by CPB Contractors as part of the Sydney Metro Sydney Metro City & Southwest project, the Integrated Station Development features a 250-meter-long underground station running from Park Street to Bathurst Street, between Pitt and Castlereagh Streets. The station platforms sit between 17 and 20 meters below city streets and can be accessed using two entrances – Park Street and Bathurst Street to the South.
