Entre has been helping entrepreneurial University of Canterbury students reach for the stars for more than 20 years. Over the past nine weeks, members have been immersed in workshops and mentorship to develop a business idea for Entre's Enterprise Challenge. This years' finale and awards night took place on September 30 - a 'Dragon's Den' style event where each team had just three minutes to wow the judges for a chance at a share of the $50,000 prize pool. The winner this year was Jade Luxton's Sterineedle idea - a specially-designed vaccination needle holster which sterilises the equipment between uses, reducing disease transfer between livestock. Hunter Hine's FullyHydr8 took second place - a ready-to-drink electrolyte shot which helps athletes and active people stay hydrated. And in third place was the Usleep pillow, designed by Tielu Iakopo, Jaxson Page and Adele Neale, which aims to alleviate back pain by encouraging correct sleep posture. A huge congratulations to all the winners - we look forward to seeing your ventures come to life! ANZ is proud to have been a Platinum Sponsor of Entre for more than a decade.

We're encouraging farmers in Otago and Southland impacted by the recent extreme weather and flooding to seek support if they need it. “Farmers are already doing it tough," says Lorraine Mapu, ANZ Managing Director of Business and Agri. "And this extreme weather comes at a critical period on the farm – during calving and lambing." “Our staff are out and about, talking with and visiting farmers in some of the worse affected areas, to get a better idea of the extent of the damage." "We're making targeted assistance available for business and farming customers, and recommend those affected talk with their key industry specialists and professional advisors to work out the best way forward." Check out this selfie from Hon. Simon Watts - food for thought while meeting The Aotearoa Circle's Rangatahi Advisory Panel. ANZ is a Leading Partner of The Aotearoa Circle - a public-private partnership which aims to restore natural capital for future generations, as well as to realise sustainable prosperity for New Zealand. The Circle created its inaugural Rangatahi Advisory Panel last year, composed of young members from a wide variety of industries and world views, and ANZ Relationship Associate Morgan Pepper is our representative this year (pictured below giving the thumbs up). Morgan wrote about her experience at the link below, reflecting on her experience meeting the minister, her hopes for the future, and what she would do differently. https://lnkd.in/gT-5KCki

Still going strong after 26 years, the annual ANZ-PGG Wrightson Ltd charity stock drive in Gisborne this year raised about $55,000 for the Gisborne East Coast Cancer Society. This amazing collaborative community effort involves not just the farmers, who donate stock, but also transport companies, stock administrators, agents and auctioneers, local businesses, and those who purchase the sheep - all contributing their time and resources to ensure the event’s success.

The annual ANZ-PGG Wrightson Ltd charity stock drive in Gisborne is still going strong after 26 years, despite tough times in the agri sector. Former ANZ rural banker Andy Woolfield dreamed up the idea in 1999, and since then more than 8000 sheep have been donated, and more than $1 million has been raised for the Gisborne East Coast Cancer Society – including about $55,000 from this year’s event. After Andy retired in 2020, ANZ Agri Relationship Associate Michelle Hawea took over organising the event, and she has expressed her gratitude for the continued support from the host of volunteers that make this event a success. ANZ has a long history of fundraising for the Cancer Society of New Zealand up and down the country, with fundraising totaling more than $24 million over the past 34 years.
