About us

About us Founded in 1997 and renamed in 2007, IBTEC has a long history of conducting world-class research in the field of biomedical technology. IBTEC was recognised as an AUT research institute in 2004 and is currently hosted by the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences (ECMS). Over its history, IBTEC has hosted students from 35 countries with over 100 theses completed within the centre. It has attracted funding from over 25 industry partners. IBTEC continues to draw researchers from across AUT and beyond and collaborates closely with industry and clinicians to produce world leading research with a real-world impact. Our Mission Bringing health technology to life: Improve quality of life and reduce chronic burden of disease and disability by delivering research underpinning new biomedical technologies. Develop researchers’ and students’ capabilities to deliver high-quality research.
