Today I would like to introduce the Chair of the E Tipu: The New Zealand Future Food and Fibre Summit 2025, powered by FoodHQ - steering committee, Dr Victoria Hatton! 🌟 Dr Victoria Hatton is a change maker who is passionate about food, food production and food systems. She is the Chief Executive at FoodHQ Innovation, a public-private partnership that is New Zealand's leading hub of food and food production scientists created to shape the future of food. Victoria was previously a director in the climate change and sustainability team at the consulting firm PwC, drove ambitious climate action for both the UK and NZ governments, and worked at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation in Rome. Earlier in her career, Victoria led research, development, policy and strategy teams at Massey University. Victoria is also a trustee for the charity New Zealand Food Waste Champions 12.3 Charitable Trust (NZFWC 12.3 Trust). The E Tipu Steering Committee is committed to uniting a diverse range of expertise and viewpoints to create a meaningful summit. Introducing you to Ruth Mackenzie, another legend on the E Tipu: The New Zealand Future Food and Fibre Summit 2025 steering committee! 🌟 Ruth Mackenzie is the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at one of FoodHQ's key partners, Massey University. With extensive experience in event coordination and a deep understanding of the primary sector, Ruth has successfully managed numerous major functions over the years. Her role on the steering committee for E Tipu 2025 will be instrumental in ensuring the event meets its goals, delivering a high-quality experience that delegates will want to return to in the future. Read some more about Ruth Mackenzie ➡️ Overseeing events, student recruitment, web, communications, marketing and alumni Ruth has teams on all three campuses. Ruth’s previous experience with primary industries, includes with red meat through Silver Fern Farms and fisheries through work on the Southeast Marine Protection project with the Department of Conservation. Ruth has also run big events during her time with Dunedin Venues at both the Dunedin Town Hall and the Forsyth Barr Stadium. Ruth lives in the very small but mighty village of Kimbolton with her husband, daughter, toddler granddaughter and a bunch of freeloading chickens. We invite you to join us on this exciting journey as we work to shape the future of food and fibre in New Zealand! 🌱 🍎 🌏 So Without further ado, we would like to introduce Mark Malone who is a key driver on the E Tipu 2025 steering committee🎉 Mark Malone gained a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom before commencing three years of post-doctoral research. He then worked for Unilever Research for 9 years working in their Product Structuring science base where he worked on a range of science discovery programmes before moving into their ice cream division. Since joining Fonterra in 2005 Mark has held a variety of R&D management roles and is currently the General Manager Science and Technology based at the Fonterra Research & Development Centre in Palmerston North. He has responsibility for Fonterra’s future focussed science and technology programmes with research spanning dairy chemistry, engineering and product design through to health and nutrition, as well as the use of data analytics in R&D and product development. Mark is married with two children, is a keen fisherman and cook, enjoys reading and runs a small lifestyle block in his spare time. Previously, Max was a Research Director at the Institute for the Future where he advised organizations like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Google, and Nestlé, among many others. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on food systems and he's been invited to speak everywhere from Walmart to the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. Max sits on several boards and studied at both Kenyon College and Oxford University. Having spent the last twelve years working in the food industry around the world, she is fascinated by how food is produced and consumed. Living on a dairy farm with an off-farm career as a Technical Manager in food manufacturing gives her a unique end to end perspective of New Zealand's food production sector. Anna completed the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme Scheme, investigating the risk alternative protein could pose to New Zealand's dairy industry and continues to advocate in this space. She is part of the governance team for Clutha Regional Economic Development Agency and Otago South River Care. Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to shape the future of food and fibre in New Zealand! 🥩 🍎 🌏 Jenny Cameron is the Chief Transformation Officer at Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) for Primary Industries. Her focus is on driving the potential of the food and fibre sector. Prior to joining MPI, Jenny was the General Manager for Responsible Dairy at DairyNZ, overseeing a portfolio of work covering climate, water, biosecurity, animal welfare and workforce issues. Ms Cameron has also held roles as the inaugural Chief Executive of the Electricity Retailers’ Association of New Zealand, and the Director of External Relations for the Brewers’ Association of Australia and NZ. She spent ten years with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in various trade and legal positions, including a posting to Japan. Jenny gained an LLB/BA (Psych) from Victoria University of Wellington, holds a current practising certificate and membership of the NZ Institute of Directors. Shaped by experiences as a family lawyer in Palmerston North, Ms Cameron is motivated to understand the social drivers behind the big policy challenges, and how business, community and government can collaborate to bring better solutions to the table.
