ALTA (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association) is a private, non-profit organization, whose member airlines represent over 80 percent of the region’s commercial air traffic. ALTA coordinates collaborative efforts across the entire value chain, from airlines to suppliers, with authorities, associations and industry stakeholders to facilitate the development of a safer, more efficient and environmentally responsible air transport in Latin America and the Caribbean and maximize the impact that aviation has on the economic and social growth of the region for the mutual benefit of the industry, nations and people served by air transport. ALTA (www.alta.aero), formerly AITAL (International Association of Latin American Air Transport) was founded in Bogota, Colombia, on April 8th, 1980 upon the initiative of 12 flag carriers to join and coordinate the efforts of its members to facilitate the solution of the problems of international air transport in Latin America and strengthen the collaboration and communication between its members for the mutual benefit of air transport in the region and its users.

Afirmamos muchas veces que #aviación es un servicio esencial en América Latina y el Caribe, pero qué importante es compartir las cifras que lo confirman. En agosto, el número total de #pasajeros creció 2.6%, alcanzando los 41.1 millones. En lo que va del año, se han movilizado 319.8 millones de pasajeros, lo que supone un incremento del 6.2%. El segmento doméstico registró 22.5 millones de pasajeros, con un aumento del 0.6% frente al año anterior. Por su parte, el tráfico internacional alcanzó los 18.5 millones de pasajeros, un incremento notable del 5%. De este total, 4.8 millones corresponden al mercado intrarregional, que mostró un crecimiento destacado del 11.1%, mientras que el mercado extrarregional, con 13.7 millones de pasajeros, creció un 3.1%. En cuanto a la demanda total, medida en pasajeros-kilómetro (RPK), se observó un aumento del 4.8%, mientras que la oferta en asientos-kilómetro (ASK) creció un 5%. El factor de ocupación alcanzó el 85.5%, reflejando una mejora de 0.6 puntos porcentuales en comparación con el mismo período del año anterior. ¡Julio histórico para la aviación en América Latina y el Caribe! ✈🌎 ¿Sabías que el mes de julio 2024 ha quedado registrado como el de mayor tráfico de pasajeros en la historia de la región hasta la fecha con un total de 42.2 millones de pasajeros transportados? Este récord refleja la característica esencial del sector #aéreo en América Latina y el Caribe. Además, julio marcó el inicio oficial de la temporada alta, con un incremento de 645.773 #pasajeros adicionales respecto al mismo periodo del año pasado. Entre enero y julio de 2024, el tráfico aéreo acumuló un crecimiento cercano al 7%, sumando 17.1 millones de pasajeros más en comparación con el 2023. La aviación en nuestra región sigue volando alto, conectando más destinos y llevando a más personas a cumplir sus sueños y metas. ¡La expansión y dinamismo de los cielos nunca había sido tan evidente! Por ello, reiteramos la importancia de ser considera en Agendas de Estado como un sector esencial para las economías y para el desarrollo social de las naciones. Los incentivos financieros, los marcos regulatorios inteligentes y las asociaciones público-privadas son fundamentales para impulsar la producción de #SAF en toda América Latina y el Caribe, y al mismo tiempo, abordar de lleno los desafíos ambientales en la aviación en la región. Otro paso clave es equilibrar la regulación de la exportación de SAF en países como #Brasil, #Paraguay y #Colombia, que cuentan con la capacidad para satisfacer tanto la demanda interna como la externa de combustible sostenible.
