Hisaar Foundation ends the year on a high note! Hisaar Foundation held its AGM with Board members, Council members and staff in attendance. The governors’ report shared on the occasion highlighted the achievements of the Foundation in the last year. While exceeding its project and fundraising targets, the Foundation deployed innovative hand-operated ultrafiltration systems in remote areas, held a highly successful 6th Karachi International Water Conference, and conceptualized the National Water Panel to be launched on a global scale in Nov 2024. Its Adopt a School program also gained significant momentum in the past year, while its Community Ponds concept has been taken up by MoCC through the Living Indus initiative. However, the greatest feather in Hisaar Foundation’s cap in the outgoing year has been the Panjwani-Hisaar Water Institute, the grey structure of which has been completed despite inflation and unexpected soaring prices, and where Masters courses have already commenced. One of the few organisations delivering excellent service in the water sector for two decades, Hisaar Foundation has made its name globally, and earned respect for the country as a key player combatting the challenges of climate change. The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka with Ms Simi Kamal, Chair of International Water Management Institute (IWMI), on the occasion of IWMI's 40-year celebration in Colombo. A special commemorative stamp was issued by the Sri Lanka Post to celebrate IWMI's 40th anniversary, and four decades of partnership with Sri Lanka. The Prime Minister, Dinesh Gunawardena, visited IWMI's global headquarters in Colombo and received the first stamp. Since 1984, IWMI has contributed to shaping water management practices in Sri Lanka and the world. In the last 40 years, IWMI has grown in scale, impact, and areas of research - from an institute focused on water for agriculture to a global leader in water management.
