An exciting update on direct ammonia solid oxide fuel cells (#SOFC) from Center for Hydrogen Technologies (CTH2), Instytut Energetyki - Państwowy Instytut Badawczy. That's the way you should convert your doctoral research into paper! Congratz Krystian Machaj. #hydrogen #ammonia #SOFC #amoniak #wodór
I'm happy to share my latest research on direct ammonia solid oxide fuel cells including 3D modeling, which has just been published! 📰 In the open-access paper (available at https://lnkd.in/dxqmtNX6) I developed open-access code for fuel cells modeling and used it to simulate DA-SOFCs. The article introduces new features of OpenFuelCell and discusses how different thicknesses of the anode layer impact the ammonia decomposition on the Ni-catalyst and temperature distribution along the cell which is curious for DA-SOFC durability. The article is extended with experimental DA-SOFC characterization which has been used for model development. Moreover, it performed DA-SOFC failure in time-dependent tests which can be interesting for those who working on that technology. A novel open-access model proposed in this paper can be used for detailed numerical analysis of DA-SOFC for optimization purposes. And the article in itself can be an indicator for further development of OpenFuelCell e.g. in the purpose of analyzing cells' operation with other fuels. Although the article is solely my own, it would not have been written if I did not have the opportunity to work in the Instytut Energetyki - Państwowy Instytut Badawczy (Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes and) I did not have the support of my colleagues at Politechnika Wrocławska Thank you all very much for your support especially my PhD supervisors Jakub Kupecki and Maciej Chorowski Curious? Feel free to dig into the paper using the link above!
