Do you know why 3D scanners are declassifying coordinate measuring machines (CMMs)? 🤔 The traditional manual methods like calipers are still used in the industrial quality control process. Although both CMMs and 3D scanners can provide detailed measurements, the 3D scanners have numerous advantages that make them stand out: 📄 Complete automation of measurements and generation of PDF reports. Measurements taken with a 3D scanner are repeatable and precise. 🕒💰 Significant reduction of time and cost savings. No need to wait weeks for manual quality control - the scanner can do all the work for us. The specialized software included with the scanner is simple and intuitive to use. You can save an inspection template and then reuse it. ✅Eliminating the risk of error. With manual measuring methods, the data obtained with, for ex, a caliper can vary slightly each time, whereas a scanner is always just as precise. ⚙️High accuracy - many 3D scanners have an accuracy of +/-0.001", which is extremely useful in industries requiring higher precision, such as aerospace. 🤩Point cloud creation and the ability to compare the CAD model with the scanned object. The inspection will be more efficient and we can create an inspection report. CMMs take about 20 minutes to inspect, while 3D scanners can make thousands of points in seconds. ☝️The scanner is enough - there is no need for additional CMM tooling for each part requiring inspection - 3D scanners are equipped with a rotary table on which the part can be placed. 🦾A 3D scanner can handle any challenge - it’s perfect for measuring demanding parameters like flatness or concentricity - during a single rotation of the rotary table, a 3D scanner can create a cloud of points of the entire part. A CMM, on the other hand, collects only few points and takes considerably longer to do so. 3D scanners have so many applications! One of them is #agriculture, and more specifically the study of the impact of tires on the soil. 🚜 A team of researchers from the Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Wrocław, led by PhD Weronika Ptak, analyzed the issue of the impact of tires in the agricultural sector. The researchers used the most modern #technology, the SMARTTECH3D scanner, to see how the ecosystem is affected by soil deformation caused by tires. 🤔   3D scanners allow several parameters to be examined simultaneously and the measurements they take are extremely precise - eliminating the risk of human error. The technology is non-invasive and versatile, making it the perfect tool for conducting extensive expertise in the agricultural industry.🧑🔬 The 3D model of the tire was the basis for any further comparisons. The 3D scanner made it possible to analyze the degree of soil deformation under tire pressure. This is an extremely cost-effective solution - objects can be examined under different loads and pressures without the use of expensive laboratory equipment.
