Recently, while preparing for the Algarve Tech Hub Summit, I met one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever encountered. If you attended this year’s Summit, I’m sure you remember our incredible host. Watching her command the stage was a masterclass in leadership, communication, and entertainment. Her name is Linda Pereira, and you can find her on LinkedIn as Linda Pereira PhD. After our very first Zoom call, Liselore Ligtermoet, another key person behind this Summit’s success, and I knew right away we were speaking to someone special. Her optimism about what we could achieve and her generosity in wanting to support the region truly stood out. People like Linda don’t come around every day, and I feel lucky to have crossed paths with someone I’m now honored to call a friend. Thank you, Linda, for being such a source of inspiration, energy (!) and for reminding us all of what’s possible, regardless of age, when we work with passion and integrity. Can’t wait to welcome you back to the Algarve soon! We need you here more often!

Just wrapping up the first day of the 2024 G100 Leadership Summit, and wow! The setting in Albufeira, Portugal, could not be lovelier … the perfect place for a meeting of the minds. Our hosts Linda Pereira PhD and her team at CPL Meetings & Events and Albufeira Mayor Jose Carlos Martins Rolo and his team surprised us with an event tent on the beach, where we could see, hear and smell the ocean while listening to an all-star lineup of speakers from around the world. Nancy G. Allen, president and CEO of WBDC of Florida, and Diane Sears, special projects director, are here from the U.S. and have met two others, both from Puerto Rico. Today opened with a Poem by Maya Angelou, “Still I Rise,” setting the tone for sessions on how women have the power to make a difference on a global scale one idea and one effort at a time, but we don’t have to do it alone. This is what G100 is all about! The speakers are gracious about presenting the program in English, and we are grateful to them for doing so, although we are all learning more Portuguese here. 🇵🇹❤️😊 Thank you to the wing’s country chair from Portugal, Catarina Olim. We appreciate you! Filipe Manuel Pereira, thank you for the session on perspectives and the lack of media attention on the advancement of women. Interesting to learn that Spain is by far leading the conversation while other countries publicize female achievements mostly on International Women’s Day every March 8. Virginia Rivera, thanks for sharing your story about how your mission with your companies, including your amazing project to ensure education for girls and women in India. Your “Going Glocal” philosophy has inspired us all. Now a great end to the day, socializing oceanside with some of our new most favorite people.
