Monitoring Blade deflections provides a solution for various challenges in operating wind farms, namely: - Early damage detection: When cracks occur, the stiffness of the blade reduces and a measurable change in deflection occurs. - Improve AEP: By optimizing Pitch and Yaw angles in favourable conditions. Pitch angle deviations as close to 0,5 degrees have been detected and we believe we can improve that. - Optimizing curtailment strategies: Reducing blade deflection in less than optimal conditions like: high turbulence at certain wind directions or optimize power output with known blade damages until repair teams are available. - maximize wind farm end of life valuation: By reducing the spent life on blades in various operating conditions. Great to be part of the #Reliablade2-NL consortium. Together we will tackle the main challenge in #windenergy O&M: detecting and characterizing early stage damages in blades and allow for condition-based maintenance. Fibersail will install its unique shape sensors in an offshore windfarm. The shape sensor follows the curvature of the blade in real-time and creates a digital twin of the blade. In combination with advanced algorithms we will make it possible to monitor the structural health of the blades. Find below link for more information 👇
Predicting the remaining lifetime of wind turbine blades? In the project ReliaBlade-2 NL, we will adapt existing #digitaltwin concepts to monitor the condition of blades during their lifetime.
