A downloadable game for Windows

King's Field 2 Remade is a difficult, first-person role-playing action RPG dungeon crawler. This is a fan tribute to a FromSoftware old series. And for now it has Demo that shows a full gameplay slice of the game.

Your beloved friends have drowned. Your possessions lie forever buried in the briny deep. Your honor is trampled. Your home, the prosperous kingdom of Verdite, faces annihilation at the hands of a power-hungry warlock's advancing armies. Verdite's last line of defense is the legendary Moonlight Sword, a long lost weapon of immense magical capacity. You are Alexander, royal knight and lone survivor of a perilous sea voyage to the island of Melanat, resting place of the Moonlight Sword. Your objective is all too clear: find the blade and escape.

FEATURING:

  • Cool weapons and magic!
  • Various enemies that are interesting to fight
  • You can dismember them, set them on fire and lure them to traps!
  • A full demo that can be completed to its logical end
  • Interactive objects like traps, barrels, items, characters and chests full of loot!

Controls can be slightly customized with full gamepad support.

This game could totally works with software Lumen.

What about King's Field 1? :)

(+1)
Who knows) If you are not familiar with the series - part 1 was released only in Japan. And the sequel was presented as 1 in US. Good game, though
(+1)

You can find the english patched ps1 disk on cdromance.
You need Duckstation (ps1 emulator) to play.

An excellent and very faithful remake of King's Field 2, looking forward to playing the completed version!

Thank you!

Very good demo but i would like to see Lumen, i believe raytracing GI and Reflections can look good regardless what it is in, especially if it replaces the god awful SSAO or i guess in Ue5 it's DFAO with SSAO? Either way, i think you should try experimenting with HW Lumen, software lumen is just   useless and defeats the very purpose of Ray tracing

I didn’t add it because on my PC the lumen greatly reduces fps - up to 3. It would be cool to make it an option. Perhaps this will appear in the future. Thank you!

It could be the Ue5 path tracer that renders the scene with obscene amounts of rays that give it 3fps, but I suppose it also could be Lumen since for Software Lumen it is recommended to have 1070 (or Rx 5500xt they don't say it in the manual, but I assume it is the minimum) and higher

It looks like it. I have a gtx 1060 with 3gb video memory
(+1)

Well it not really 1060 problem more the 3 gigs problem, oof it was rough even back when it came out i immediately realized i made a big mistake buying but also it kinda got me looking more into PC hardware so i suppose you lose some you win some

Thanks for creating this experience, here I'm hoping for a full remake! This was pretty awesome to play, as a fan of the original KF2. Very well done! Ultrawide is working perfectly, and system menus are as faithful for a PC port as it could be =D

What can be improved?

  • Loopable BGM: Since you're using UE5, with a "Metasound Source" object, you can create inside that asset a Wave Player that uses the game's music and tell when the loop should start and its duration. This will improve the experience a lot!
  • GameOver handling, just like the original game:
    • Use your last save and "Continue".
    • If doesn't exist, just "Start the game" again.
  • Loading Screen, to be the transition to in-game less jarring:
    • When the option is selected, use a visual + audio fade.
    • If you want, as an extra, insert the 2D animation where the protag uses the Moonlight sword (same as og game).
  • Avoid using multiple menus at the same time! Try pausing next to a save point/NPC/etc., then press E; you'll see what I'm talking about.
  • Some little objects are hard to grab, maybe make the hitbox a little bigger?
  • Fighting enemies on the stairs, while being higher than them, is a pain right now.

Also, as a QoL feature, maybe autograb the money on the floor, but that's more optional.

As I said, many thanks again and be proud of what you have achieved right now!!!

Thank you very much for the feedback! Indeed, most of these improvements will likely be made in future patches. I’m also waiting on the discord server, where all the information and reviews are collected, so that everything is more structured)

What a magnificent experience this was! Let me tell you that although it took me about three hours to complete this demo, it was a wonderful ride. I've played King's Field  so many times and yet this felt so fresh to me. I loved every second. The intelligent enemies quick to punish my attempts at cheesing them. The gorgeous scenery keeping me at awe. This developer truly brought out the essence of this game for what it was truly meant to be. I can't express how much joy this game has brought me today. I'm 42 years old and I felt like I was back in my teenage years while in this world. Thank You!!

Thank you very much! This is extremely pleasant. I'm glad that the project was able to please you! It’s for this reason, to share my emotions (as well as prove what I can do) from the project that I did it in the first place) I hope the project will be completed.

I was really surprised by this project! Watching the trailer, I was scared that it would be way easier thanks to the freedom of physical movement and mouse movement, but you actually made the enemies turn faster and have more health! I love that. I love the fact you went out of your way to still make it balanced. This is looking, really, really good. It's so faithful. And dare I say it might even become a replacement, a new way for people that want to get into the series to play the original.
Keep working on it. You are so talented.

Thank you very much! I hope I can please the players. I would really like to make a full version. And then the first and third parts!)

Hello, I am from the Devil Spire Discord server, I just wish to warn you that the discord invite on this page leads to the Devil Spire Discord and not the one for your game. The portal will not close, please help.

Thank you very much! Changed the link. What about the portal, what are you talking about?
(+1)(-1)

Many confused people were appering in the Devil Spire Discord, so it was like a portal

(-1)
Ahh, now I understand) Damn, I couldn’t make a mistake, as always!
(+1)

What is the current length of it?

(1 edit) (+1)

Only the first location is available, but the demo can be played to its logical conclusion. If you're asking about the playtime, it's about 1.5 hour.

(+1)

Omg this is amazing, i love Kf2 and this is a dream come true!!!

For now, it's just a demo. However, I hope it keeps you engaged for a couple of hours. Thank you!)

(+1)

Ohh thought it was the full game haha, I was wondering why the save station didnt have the warping pedestal

I played a little bit and noted how thw squids are a bit too aggressive and hard to fight

Maybe their attack speed and range should be a bit lowered, and the plants poision cloud has too much range!! It's impossible to avoid it in the rooms where you fight them

i found it super fun and I like the faster but faithful  combat with some shadown tower abyss sprinkled in.

Hopefully you'll add in game binding customization because I usually play with L2 acrivate/run, r2 attack, L1 magic and R1 menu!

I like how the game looks too, even if the old ps1 art clashes a bit with the modern effects like light refraction and shiny surfaces on the slimes

Otherwise it's an incredibile project i can't wait to see and play more!!!!

Thanks for your feedback! I wrote down a wish regarding the layout of the gamepad and the speed of enemies. If you have any other requests, I invite you to the server on discord) There are reports about bugs, etc.

Thanks you so much!
