UC RUSAL is developing a metro car made entirely of aluminium alloys. This project promises a groundbreaking reduction in weight—by at least 2 tons per car compared to traditional steel models. In collaboration with leading engineering firms and metro systems across Russia, RUSAL is set to redefine metro operations and enhance economic efficiency. The aluminium metro car will feature an advanced design, including an aluminium frame, body, and various interior and exterior components, while retaining steel wheels and bogies.  This innovative approach aims to reduce the overall train weight by 16 tons, further cutting energy consumption and potentially decreasing the need for additional energy infrastructure. With benefits extending to faster assembly, lower operational costs, and the eco-friendly nature of aluminium—recyclable and in high demand globally—the new metro car model stands poised to set new standards in the transportation industry.  #RUSAL #MetroInnovation #AluminiumTechnology

Making the right decisions is the key to a successful life. Just ask Artem Barbara, who joined UAZ while still a final-year student at Kamensk-Uralsky Polytechnic College. With a family history at the aluminium plant, it was a natural choice for Artem, whose father and brother also work there. He quickly found his footing, feeling empowered to build his life and career with the support of his welcoming colleagues. UC RUSAL’s commitment to the professional growth of its employees is evident in Artem’s journey. Now pursuing a degree in metallurgy at Ural Federal University, he thrives in his active role, where quick thinking and agility are essential. A lifelong skier, Artem credits sports for developing the endurance, discipline, and focus needed in his career. His passion extends beyond work—he is an active member of UAZ’s youth council, organizing events that bring colleagues and the community together, fostering both personal and professional growth. #PeopleOfRUSAL #SocialImpact #RUSAL

Revolutionizing Aluminium Recycling: RUSAL's New Fleet of Rotary Furnaces  UC RUSAL is on the brink of completing a groundbreaking project: the formation of a fleet of rotary furnaces designed to process aluminium scrap on an industrial scale. With a total investment of $12.5 million, this initiative underscores our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. RUSAL's aluminium recycling project leverages consumer scrap, which has a zero carbon footprint. By integrating this scrap into aluminium production, RUSAL aims to increase the output of low-carbon products while ensuring the highest quality throughout the production chain. The demand for low-carbon metal is constantly growing, as aluminium processors seek to reduce the carbon footprint of their own products.  So far, five rotary kilns are operational, with two more on the way. This fleet will enable RUSAL to recycle 17,000 tons of aluminium scrap annually and process an additional 40,000 tons of aluminium slag. This project will enhance RUSAL’s ability to produce low-carbon aluminium while maintaining top-tier quality throughout its production chain. The rotary furnaces allow RUSAL to efficiently melt aluminium scrap and extract aluminium from slag during the smelting process. To support these new capacities, RUSAL plans to enter into long-term agreements with scrap producers in different federal districts, offering transparent pricing and guaranteed purchase volumes. We're constantly seeking new opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint and promote sustainability within the aluminium industry. Join us in our journey towards a greener future! #RUSAL #Sustainability #AluminiumRecycling #LowCarbon #Innovation #EnvironmentalImpact #CircularEconomy

Russia celebrated Metallurgist Day on July 21. We extend congratulations to all involved in this crucial industry for the economy, including thousands of UC RUSAL employees who contribute significantly to advancing metallurgy in Russia and around the globe. Today, we're sharing the story of Andrei Isakov's team at the Kalinskaya mine in SUBR. Miners are currently working and excavating at SUBR's depth of -1220 meters. Andrei Isakov's team has achieved an output that surpasses 140% of the plan, ranking among the highest-performing teams at SUBR. Andrei, a miner with 20 years of experience, believes the key to success is teamwork and adaptability. Despite the team's youthfulness, everyone works together seamlessly and can depend on each other. In April, the team won the Labor Watch competition in honor of SUBR's 90th anniversary. The team's connections extend beyond the workplace. They unwind together by exploring nature through activities such as hiking and rafting on the Ural rivers.
