I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible opportunity to serve as a keynote speaker at the recently concluded eLearning Africa Conference 2024 in Kigali, Rwanda. It has taken me a few days to find the right words to convey my deep appreciation for your invitation and the impactful platform you have created.
eLearning Africa provides our beautiful continent with a unique and invaluable opportunity that, I feel, is still underappreciated. The conference fosters essential dialogue and collaboration among teachers, teacher educators, policymakers, development partners, and implementers of government programs. This bridging of diverse sectors is something I wish every ambitious and growing economy could leverage.
Too often, policies fail to benefit their intended recipients because they are developed based on assumptions rather than real-world experiences. The platform you offer allows us to tap into practical experiences and cross-sector interactions, enabling the creation of needs-based policies that can genuinely improve the livelihoods of the people they are designed for.
As #TheAfricanTravellingTeacher, I have always dreamed of contributing to making our mother continent a better place. My father, Bashaka Evarist, instilled in us the value of leaving every place we touch better than we found it. I never realized the extent of my potential impact until I met my teacher, Olivia Mugabirwe, who inspired me to embrace the teaching profession as my way to build the nation and make Africa a better place for future generations.
Few people have believed in my dreams and passion except for Oliva who kept encouraging and mentoring me not until my story reached the eyes of Rosa García Calero and Rebecca Stromeyer of eLearning Africa. Their belief in my story and their invitation to share it at the conference was a turning point for me. Delivering my keynote speech at eLearning Africa 2024 was a moment of profound realization – I am on a path of meaningful impact. The encouragement, support, and appreciation I received from the conference participants have motivated me to work even harder.
Meeting passionate individuals like Rebecca Stromeyer and her dedicated eLearning Africa team, Claudette Irere the Hon. Minister of State for Education of Rwanda, Hon. Michael Onyango, Dr. Aida Opoku-Mensah, Dr. Laila Macharia and other inspiring figures such as Rogers Sithole, Riaan Vlok, Torsten Herfert, Nadine PRIAM-PLESNAGE, Nigel Gracie and Roger Larsen, has strengthened my resolve. I am reassured of Africa's bright future, knowing that there are so many committed to leveraging our continent's immense potential.
Thank you once again for this incredible opportunity and for the tireless work you do to make eLearning Africa a reality. I am forever grateful for the motivation and inspiration you have given me.
With deepest gratitude,
