It was an evening of networking, inspiration, and celebration as USIU-Africa Alumni Association - Rwanda Chapter Launch took place at Kigali Marriott Hotel. The event was a remarkable opportunity for alumni to reconnect, exchange ideas, and strengthen their professional and social ties. Prof. Mwenda Ntarangwi, Vice Chancellor delivered an insightful speech, emphasizing the university’s commitment to advancing technology to improve lives, fostering research to produce knowledge for informed decision-making, and promoting leadership that focuses on solving societal challenges for the common good. He also highlighted the importance of providing students with practical solutions and real-world experiences, expanding access to education for individuals facing economic, social, and physical challenges, and upholding excellence and integrity in all aspects of academia and engagement. Additionally, he shared the university’s ambitious $50 million fundraising goal over the next five years, aimed at driving these initiatives forward. A keynote address was delivered by Mr. Pascal Gatabazi, Chief Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education, who represented the Minister of Education in Rwanda. His speech emphasized the role of alumni in shaping Rwanda’s educational landscape and contributing to national development through innovation, leadership, and collaboration. The evening was further enriched by captivating cultural performances, which showcased Rwanda’s rich heritage and added a festive atmosphere to the event, with a further networking session afterwards.
