Let’s celebrate the 10th anniversary of the GIZ staff initiative #MenstruAction with this 2015-2025 Anniversary Edition – and join the movement.   Since 2020 our GIZ Gender Competitions are good indicators of the positive development around menstrual health and hygiene #MHH within our programmes and activities – with MenstruAction having an instrumental part in it: From no mention of MHH at all, to one project in Nepal being under the TOP 15 of the GE1 category in the 2020 competition, to the 1st Gender prize for Fit for School’s MHH activities in the GE1 category and an honorable mention of #NepalsMenstrualMovement in the 2022 edition, to the 2nd prize for Periods@Work in the Gender Mainstreaming category and three honorable mentions at the 2024 Gender Award.   The objective of the staff initiative is to integrate menstrual health and hygiene into our programming and our workplace practices through awareness campaigns and collaboration - especially with the GIZ Gender Focal Persons in our country offices. Strengthening Gender-Responsive Mediation in the Great Lakes Region   Today in Nairobi, the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) kicked off a four-day workshop focused on strengthening mediation efforts through a Gender-Responsive Mediation Coordination Mechanism. This initiative brings together representatives from ICGLR’s operational departments, civil society, youth, women’s, and parliamentary forums, as well as security agencies to:    ✅ Establish a structured and inclusive mediation framework. ✅ Define clear roles and responsibilities for mediation actors. ✅ Foster stronger collaboration between regional and international partners. ✅ Develop a sustainable roadmap for effective coordination.    As conflict dynamics in the Great Lakes Region shift, well-organized and gender-sensitive mediation is essential for lasting peace and security. This workshop marks a significant step toward ensuring that mediation processes are systematic, inclusive, and impactful.    The insights gained will shape future regional initiatives, further solidifying ICGLR’s role in mediation and conflict resolution. There are currently 149,000 vacancies in the German IT sector. At the same time, there are hardly any job prospects for IT graduates in Ghana and Rwanda on the local labor market. Both sides benefit from the model: It strengthens the local economy in a future-oriented field in Ghana and Rwanda.
