We had an incredible time last week at the KAUST PacBio Day hosted by our Bioscience Core Lab, PacBio and Alliance Global (AGBL Group)! Attendees were treated to inspiring presentations that showcased the power of PacBio’s innovative technology in revolutionizing research. Our expert speakers from KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) AGBL and PacBio shared their experiences utilizing the latest Revio system for highly accurate long-read sequencing (HiFi sequencing), paving the way for groundbreaking discoveries in various fields. Key Highlights: - In-depth Presentations: Scientists presented their work on whole genome, metagenomic, and single-cell sequencing, covering exciting topics in plant science, human genomics, rare diseases, brain development and marine science. - Revio System Overview: Attendees learned about the capabilities of the Revio system and the state-of-the-art facilities at the KAUST Bioscience Core Laboratory. - Networking Opportunities: Participants engaged in insightful Q&A sessions and connected with sequencing experts, fostering collaboration and innovation. Exciting news from the Red Sea! In an insightful interview with MohamedElsayed Ali from Nature Middle East, Haitham Aljahdali, Director of the KAUST Coastal and Marine Resources Core Lab, shared details about the groundbreaking construction of Saudi Arabia’s first regional research vessel, "Thuwal 2". This state-of-the-art vessel aims to explore the geology and ecosystems of the Red Sea, paving the way for innovative marine research and sustainable resource management. With advanced laboratories onboard and a design tailored for the region, "Thuwal 2" is set to enhance our understanding of marine biodiversity and environmental challenges. This series teaches graduate students, scientists, faculty members, and industry practitioners from KAUST and Saudi Arabia core data science tools and methods so that they may begin building their own data science applications. It also fulfills many prerequisites for various workshops we offer later in the year.     The KVL team has been offering the Introduction to Data Science workshop series since 2018.
