At Autoliv, we’re committed to continuously advancing both safety and sustainability. With the innovations introduced in the Bernoulli™ Airbag, we foresee significant potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its production process. The main advantages are the weight savings and the possibility to move faster to materials with a lower CO2e emission factor. By incorporating more sustainable materials, such as PET for the cushion, we aim to lower the overall carbon footprint of the airbag. Our current estimates project a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the short term, with even greater savings in the long term by increasing material circularity. This is a step to move mobility safety closer to a safer and more environmentally responsible future.

Originating in our Tijuana facility, this global solution listens for sound patterns, automatically identifying noisy components. This innovation not only enhances efficiency but helps us maintain our commitment to high-quality safety solutions.

This past week, we celebrated a remarkable milestone – the 40th anniversary of the Autoliv Research Advisory Board. Since 1984, this group of expert advisors has provided essential insights that shape our research and safety solutions. From biomechanics to autonomous driving, their expertise keeps Autoliv at the forefront of mobility safety. "The meeting with the Autoliv Research Advisory Board is the research highlight of the year. We meet once a year to present and discuss the latest research results, new initiatives, and the reasons behind them. The advisors validate the direction and quality of Autoliv's research," says Cecilia Sunnevång, PhD, Vice President of Research at Autoliv. The photos show a glimpse into our history, with the board from the mid-1990s alongside today's team – representing 40 years of collaboration and a shared commitment to saving more lives.

Instilling good safety habits early is essential for the next generation of responsible road users. Recently, our Japan team hosted a safety awareness event at Tsukuba RC Park, engaging over 80 elementary school children and their families in learning vital road safety behaviors. Through interactive activities with radio-controlled cars, participants explored traffic rules, airbag safety, and the critical role of seatbelts. This initiative is part of our broader strategy to support the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 3.6, which aims to halve global road traffic fatalities and injuries by 2030. By fostering a culture of safety awareness from a young age, we are not only contributing to saving more lives but also striving towards our ambition to save 100,000 lives annually.
