Business Sweden has now opened its doors in Mumbai and welcomes you to our newest office in India! Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Maria Malmer Stenergard handed over the symbolic key to CEO of Business Sweden Jan Larsson and Trade & Invest Commissioner to India, Sofia Högman in the presence of Ambassador to India, H.E. Jan Thesleff and, Consul General Sven Östberg earlier this week during her visit to India. India is one of the world's largest and fastest growing economies, with great potential for increased Swedish exports and for investments from India to Sweden. Trade relations between the two countries date back to over 100 years with Ericsson being the first Swedish company to start its operations in India. Western India figures as an important international trade center and particularly so for Swedish businesses who have for long had a solid presence especially in Pune when the city witnessed its first mark of the Swedish footprint as far back as the 1960s. And on to a later entrant, Spotify has for a few years been spreading musical waves and cheer across the country through its headquarters in Mumbai. Our Mumbai office establishment will focus on enhanced trade and investment cooperation and capture the potential in Western India as a growth market for Swedish companies and Indian investments into Sweden.
