🤝 Despite the challenges of war, yesterday's signing ceremony and launch of a new feasibility study funded by Swedfund marks an important step towards modernising the district heating system in the city of Lutsk, #Ukraine. 🧩 The study will assess the options for replacing the old boiler house with a modern, energy-efficient production plant run mainly on #biomass as fuel — a crucial step towards improving energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact and lowering heating costs for the residents of Lutsk. Additionally, the new plant would enhance the reliability of heat, power, and hot water supply, ensuring a more stable and sustainable energy system for the community. "Our commitment to sustainable development and critical infrastructure in Ukraine remains strong. The Swedfund #ProjectAccelerator now has over 25 projects underway in Ukraine. The modernisation of Lutsk's district heating system is an important part of a wider effort to bring Ukraine's infrastructure up to European energy and sustainability standards." – Karin Kronhoffer, Swedfund International. We appreciate the leadership of Ihor Polishchuk, Lutsk City Mayor, and the commitment of the State Communal Enterprise “Lutskteplo”, the consultant Ramboll and all project partners in making this initiative a reality. #Swedfund #StandWithUkraine #Ukraine #SustainableEnergy #DistrictHeating #EnergyEfficiency

🌍Breaking News: Swedfund International, together with British International Investment (BII) and Norfund, is investing a total of USD 85 million in AgDevCo to strengthen agribusiness and food security in sub-Saharan Africa. "The agricultural sector in sub-Saharan Africa faces numerous challenges such as limited access to financing, climate vulnerabilities, and poor infrastructure. Therefore, it is important to invest across the food value chain to boost resilience, adaptability, and food security. 📙 New handbook: on the Prevention of and Response to #SEAH. Since 2019, the The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation and Swedfund International have been working together to strengthen Swedfund's capacity to identify and address risks of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment in its investment portfolio and operations. One key result in this partnership is the publication of the Good Practice Handbook on the Prevention of and Response to Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (SEAH), a concrete guide to help fund managers, investment platforms and financial institutions address SEAH risks. 🛑 — This partnership shows the value of joining forces to find concrete solutions and ways to invest for change and take action to improve women’s rights, safety and economic opportunities. Based on our combined knowledge we have developed tools and approaches that can help any organisation or company wanting to respond to and prevent sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, says Petra Tötterman Andorff, Secretary General, The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation. — Investors have a responsibility to prevent and address SEAH, not only within their own organisations, but also in the workplaces and communities affected by their investments. This handbook is a step towards this goal, says Amanda Koppang Willfors, Associate Senior Impact Manager at Swedfund International. The Handbook focuses on investment - but some of the tools it provides can be used by companies and other organisations in supply chain management. And while the Handbook is not a comprehensive tool for all aspects of gender equality, it serves as a practical resource to inspire action and promote investment practices that contribute to safe and inclusive workplaces, both within portfolio companies and in their interactions with clients and communities. ➡ Download the handbook here: https://bit.ly/4b60Nsl For further information, feel free to reach out to us. #Swedfund #KvinnaTillKvinna #SEAH #GenderLensInvesting #Handbook #EndGBV #TechincalAssistance
