Meet Hamdi Shek Behi: Living our value "Show care". As part of our ongoing series on the values that define who we are and how we work, today we’re introducing Hamdi, an operator at our monitoring centre in Malmö. 🌟 What does "Show care" mean to you, Hamdi? "For me, 'Show care' is at the heart of my role. It’s about ensuring that our alarm users feel truly seen, which is especially important over the phone. For me it’s about being attentive, confirming we’ve understood their needs, and doing everything I can to assist them." 🌟 Can you share a specific instance where this value impacted your work? "There was a time when an alarm raised my concern, where I couldn't quite catch what the customer said. Instead of dismissing it, I raised it with my Team Leader and we reviewed the call together. We realised that something was indeed off, and we were able to take further action to support the customer. This experience reinforced the importance of following your instincts and sometimes going beyond what’s required of standard protocol to deliver truly exceptional care." 👏 Hamdi’s commitment to 'Show care' not only enhances our service but also ensures that our clients always feel supported and secure. Thanks for your dedication, Hamdi. #Showcare #Healthtech #Seniorcare #Telecare #Digitalhealth

Om oss
Older generations are fitter, healthier and more independent than ever before. However, an ageing population presents challenges to society. This is where technology enabled care comes in, offering quality-assured, cost-effective, digital security solutions that let our users live a richer and more independent life for longer. Careium is a leading player in technology enabled care across Europe. We have a broad offering; a software platform, fixed and mobile social alarms, remote monitoring and alarm response services offered to local authorities, service providers and individuals. We currently provide around 350,000 people with our services. The majority of these are connected to one of our four response centres in Sweden, Norway and the UK, where we handle more than 25,000 incoming alarms every day. Careium is a Swedish company with headquarters in Malmö and local organisations in Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and the UK, as well as a European export division. With Careium as an independent company, we will work with an increased focus towards being the European market leader in technology enabled care with the aim to develop innovative, proactive, predictive and preventive solutions. History Doro's acquisition of Caretech in 2014 marked the starting point in becoming Careium. The business has developed under the Doro ownership through organic growth and several strategic acquisitions. The acquisition of Victrix in 2020, a digital cloud-based healthcare platform, gave Careium the opportunity to offer new proactive and coordinated services. Key acquisitions in the UK strengthened our position and Careium is now a leading service provider in the market. In 2021, we also acquired CSI Services/Innocom, one of the leading technology service providers in the Netherlands.

Meet Efrén González Pérez, a software architect with 25 years of experience in the telecare sector. Efrén's journey began at the Spanish Red Cross and led him to a small startup in Madrid known as Victrix (now Careium España). Today, he's part of an 11-member team focused on research and development. Efrén shares that his passion for telecare was sparked by his realisation that his technical skills could contribute significantly to society. “One of my earliest projects involved developing a platform for survivors of domestic violence. I remember realising that the tools I was creating were genuinely helping people on the other end. This sense of contributing to a greater purpose has been a key reason why I have remained in the industry for so long. When I reflect on the impact of my work, knowing that the solutions I create make a difference reassures me that my work is both meaningful and beneficial”. Efrén particularly enjoys the technical discussions he has with the team, some of whom he's worked with for over a decade. “There is a great atmosphere within our international team, and we have a good sense of humour, making it a really enjoyable environment”. This is Efrén’s first experience working with a northern European company, and he is pleasantly surprised by the cultural similarities. He shares, "Every team-building activity is filled with laughter and fun, creating a warm and positive team atmosphere." Our core values - Show care, Act smart, Be heroes - are what sets us apart for Efrén. "We always remember that there's a person at the other end of our service, whom we are looking after, ensuring our services are of the highest quality. Act smart is what we do in our daily activities. In the mornings we discuss not only the tasks at hand but also the challenges we may face. We believe that together, as a group, we can find smarter solutions. We are heroes in the sense that we actively help others and take purposeful actions to do so. These values are more than words - they are the DNA of the company."

A recent survey of 1,000 older people in northern England, conducted by a local home care company, uncovered some important insights into their concerns and aspirations. Many expressed a deep fear of losing their independence as they age, particularly the worry of having to leave their homes. Equally, a striking 78% of respondents shared that they feel overlooked by fashion brands, the media, and modern technology. We believe that technology should not only be functional but also reflect the desires and dignity of its users. This commitment inspired us to design the Ellis pendant, a personal alarm that combines safety with elegance. Unlike traditional pendants, the Ellis is crafted to look like stylish jewellery, with the emergency button discreetly integrated at the back. This design ensures that our users feel confident and stylish, maintaining their independence without compromising on safety. We're proud to offer a solution that respects the aesthetic and practical needs of our customers. Advancements in technology are changing the way we care for our elderly, offering solutions to tackle prevalent issues such as loneliness. By integrating care services with Technology Enabled Care (TEC), we can also provide greater mental well-being for people. Recent years have seen remarkable advancements in technology, introducing new digital tools that free up time and resources, enabling carers to focus more on combating loneliness. For instance, by installing a remote monitoring system like Careium Visit in a user’s bedroom, home care staff or an alarm operator can monitor activity during the night without the need for a physical visit, thereby avoiding disturbances. Such technology reallocates time for carers to conduct more social visits during the day. A practical example of this is seen in Uddevalla, Sweden, where remote monitoring has resulted in a 25% reduction in night-time carers, allowing them to concentrate on day shifts instead. Embracing TEC is not just about staying current with technology trends; it's about making a tangible difference in the lives of people. By promoting better mental health through enhanced care and support, we can help ensure that our aging population leads happier, more fulfilling lives. #Healthtech #Seniorcare #Telecare #Digitalhealth Learn more here:

A groundbreaking research project in East Sussex is exploring how technology can enhance the well-being of seniors. The "Living Lab" at a sheltered housing scheme includes an interactive digital games table, fall sensors, smartwatches, and even virtual reality headsets. Not only does this new initiative provide entertainment, the project also hopes that the technology will ease the pressure on carers by encouraging interaction between clients and carers. We believe in the numerous benefits of inclusive technology for both entertainment and safety. Smart tech solutions can also simplify caregiving, such as our Careium Visit, which allows for remote check-ins, making home visits safer and less intrusive. By embracing digital technology in a user-friendly, and inclusive way, we can ensure that it caters to the diverse needs of all users. Moreover, these technologies free up valuable time for carers, enabling them to focus on more meaningful, in-person interactions. #Healthtech #Seniorcare #Telecare #Digitalhealth Learn more here:

Join us today, October 10th, in recognising the World Health Organization's World Mental Health Day. This global initiative is aimed at increasing awareness about mental health, breaking down the stigma associated with it, and underscoring the importance of mental health, which is as crucial as physical health. Loneliness is a significant mental health issue of our time, with an increasing number of people reporting feelings of isolation. We believe it's essential to raise awareness about mental well-being and emphasis that no one should have to deal with their challenges alone. Here are three strategies to combat loneliness: 1. Reach Out to Friends and Family: If you’ve lost touch with loved ones, take this opportunity to reconnect. A simple call or message can reignite those valuable connections. 2. Make New Connections: Explore local or online groups and classes that share your interests. Meeting like-minded individuals can create new friendships and support networks. 3. Create a Routine: Establishing a daily routine can provide structure and something to look forward to. Engage in activities that bring you joy and help keep your mind occupied. For more strategies on coping with loneliness, read our blog post: https://lnkd.in/euzhNp2a Remember, your mental health matters. Let's stand together in spreading awareness and support. #WorldMentalHealthDay #Healthtech #Seniorcare #Telecare #Digitalhealth
