In growing cities, making space for new buildings sometimes requires demolishing old ones. A circular economy could reduce global CO2 emissions from building materials by 38% in 2050, by reducing demand for steel, aluminum, cement, and plastic. We accelerate the transformation of urban mining by providing a full range of tools for demolition and recycling. 57% of the world’s population lives in urban areas today. What will it look like in 25 years? Current projections suggest that the global population will reach 8.5 billion by 2030 and nearly 10 billion by 2050. Alongside this growth, more people move from rural areas to cities for better opportunities. This is a key reason why we must accelerate the transformation toward a safer, more efficient construction industry with a reduced environmental footprint. Curious to see how many people will be living in cities 25 years from now? Click below. #epiroc #acceleratethetransformation A growing world | Epiroc (epirocgroup.com)

We have won a large order for underground mining equipment, including battery-electric vehicles, from Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) in Kazakhstan. Several of the machines will be operated driverless (tele-remotely), and all of the equipment will be supplied with a collision avoidance system. ERG, the world's largest producer of ferrochrome by chrome content, has ordered a fleet of Epiroc loaders and mine trucks as well as drill rigs for face drilling, production drilling and rock reinforcement. The equipment will be used for expansion of the 10th Anniversary chromium mine, also known as ShDNK-2, in western Kazakhstan. Some of the machines will be battery powered, reducing ventilation needs and strengthening work conditions and productivity. “We have a common goal with ERG of making mining operations as safe and productive as possible,” says Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO. “We are happy to extend our almost two decades of collaboration, including incorporating battery-electric vehicles into their operations.” The equipment ordered includes the battery-electric and automation-ready trucks and loaders Minetruck MT42 SG and Scooptram ST14 SG. Other machines include the Boomer S2 face drilling rig, Simba E70 S production drill rig, and Cabletec M10 S rock reinforcement rig, among other models.

We have won a large order for surface mining equipment from Newmont Corp. in Australia. Newmont, the world’s leading gold producer, has ordered a fleet of Epiroc Pit Viper 231 and SmartROC D65 drill rigs that will be used at the Boddington gold and copper mine in Western Australia. The rigs, which will be operated tele-remotely, will replace an older fleet of Epiroc equipment. We will also provide service on the machines. “We have a long-standing partnership with Newmont, which is on the forefront of advanced mining operations,” says Helena Hedblom, our President and CEO. “We are happy to support them as they continue to make their operations as safe and productive as possible.”

As a company with Swedish roots, we were proud to invite Jason LaTorre, Ambassador of Canada to Sweden, for a tour of our Lively, Ontario facility. Andre Bertrand, General Manager, was also joined by Ola Rignell, Senior Advisor at Foundation Asset Management (FAM) and Andreas Skinnars, Partner at Actagon, as they discussed our advancements in battery technology and walked through our shop. A big thanks to Kari Lamoureux and Brad Major for facilitating a great visit! #mininginnovation #Sweden #batterytechnology

"We are very enthusiastic about the future of the product itself - and the changes we will do on all our Simba rigs from now on to make them Simba COPROD rigs" We met up with Sebastíán Rios, CEO at Pucobre, at MINExpo INTERNATIONAL to get his perspective on COPROD for Simba, our newly launched rock drilling system for underground production drilling. Chilean copper miner Pucobre has used COPROD for Simba since 2022 and quickly saw strong results such as better fragmentation after blasting, dilution reduction to 5%, and increased burden to 2,4 meters. Based on the successful results, Pucobre has placed an order for 3 additional Simba E70 S equipped with the COPROD system.

Meet Christian Précenth, Global Product Portfolio Manager at Epiroc. Christian will take you through the aftermarket offering, with focus on circularity, presented at the booth at MINExpo International 2024. The journey towards sustainability and responsibility has many steps. It starts with the decision to implement rebuilt machines and remanufactured components into the fleet maintenance plans. With Midlife services and the Reman Program we can support our customers on this journey. #Epiroc #MINExpo #MINExpo2024 #acceleratethetransformation #circularity #remanufacturing #midlifeservices

Live at MINExpo International 2024, is our top-of-the-line COP MD20 rock drill. A hydraulic rock drill designed and optimized for mine drifting applications. It is a robust time and cost saver; with an increased recommended service interval of 1000 hrs. COP MD20 has fewer housings compared to our long-established COP 1838 rock drill. This means less risk of housing misalignment, less risk of water and dirt intrusion and fewer parts to maintain and keep in stock. And with a return line for lubrication oil, the risk of contaminating the environment can be avoided. Rock drills are core components when it comes to underground drilling. COP MD20 is no different. With sealed off mating surfaces, and improved resistance to free hammering, it gives less breakdowns and lower cost; all contributing to a more sustainable mining operation. #Epiroc #MINExpo #MINExpo2024 #acceleratethetransformation #COPMD20 #rockdrill
