The evening featured an exclusive preview of the latest She Report from Aller, offering valuable insights into what women know about the hormones that shape our well-being, energy levels, and daily lives. 🔬 Endometriosis – New Research in Focus Endometriosis is a chronic disease that can start at a person's first menstrual period and last until menopause. With endometriosis, tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus leading to pain and sometimes fertility challenges. Despite affecting around 10% of all women, it often takes years to receive a diagnosis. With severe symptoms, particularly during menstruation, research is ongoing to better understand and treat this condition. In our scientific podcast Gynpodden, we welcome Emma Björk, senior specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. With nearly 20 years of experience, Emma has dedicated much of her career to endometriosis patients. For the past decade, her groundbreaking research has focused on the immunological mechanisms behind endometriosis, shedding light on the underlying causes of this complex disease. In her research, it’s shown that endometriosis secretes so-called exosomes that trick the immune system into inactivity in the same way that cancer does.
