The event featured a keynote address by Denis Beau, the Deputy Governor of Banque de France, and a thought-provoking panel discussion moderated by Ilse Peeters, Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs at Euroclear. The panel included Etienne Barel, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at FBF, Florian Denis, Member of the Cabinet of Commissioner McGuinness at the European Commission, Muriel Faure, President of the Technological Innovations Commission at AFG - Association Française de la Gestion financière, Frederick Lacroix, Attorney at Law - Partner at Clifford Chance Europe LLP and a special guest, Nao the robot, representing innovation. Mr. Beau set the stage by outlining a future vision of European financial markets supported by a Unified Ledger, #DLT enabled, with all key actors connected. The discussion also delved into the deepening of the #CapitalMarketsUnion (#CMU) and the importance of making European companies attractive to investors. Positive trends such as the increasing participation of younger individuals in investing, the rise of #ETFs, fractional investing and cryptocurrencies were highlighted. 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀! Together with our partners, we’ve successfully completed the dress rehearsal of our trial for #Eurosystem wholesale CBDC exploratory works. With the support of Paris Europlace, Euroclear has brought together a group of renowned French banks around our D-FMI platform for digital securities issuance and Banque de France’s DL3S platform for Central Bank Digital Currency (#CBDC). As a result, in the coming weeks, these financial institutions will issue the first Digital Native Note (#DNN) under French Law and settle it in CBDC. “With this trial and following the publication of the Digital Assets Security Control Principles, we are taking another step in our efforts to support the adoption of digital asset securities and contribute to the design of digital money. Our involvement, in collaboration with our participants, is pivotal as it bridges the gap between traditional finance and digital asset securities, leveraging our expertise in settlement and post-trade services to enable the development of efficient, resilient and interoperable digital infrastructures”, commented Isabelle Delorme, Global Head of Product Strategy and Innovation of #Euroclear group.
