Om oss
Haglöfs comes from Sweden, a country of extreme weather and extensive landscape. Where rolling lowlands and running rivers give way to thick forests and snow-capped mountains. A place where the outdoors isn’t just a far-off place, it’s in the fabric of the brands culture and community. Haglöfs explore with curiosity and a commitment to creating gear that will support anyone, anywhere on their outdoor adventure - from walking through the forest to reaching the peak of a mountain. An attitude of innovation is at the core of Haglöfs’ history. The brand was founded in 1914 by Wiktor Haglöf, a visionary with a dream and a toolbox. A carpenter by trade, Wiktor was determined to create a backpack that would withstand the necessary journeys through the country, no matter the conditions. From humble beginnings, Haglöfs’ story evolved, and so did the offerings. Seeking constant progress, Haglöfs have ventured into new territory, creating technical designs that set a new standard in craftsmanship and committing to do what can be done to ensure that the outdoors will still be there for future generations to explore. The brand pioneered a new standard for perfection, but, like Wiktor, never stops innovating.

The early design stages are critical when it comes to making choices that collectively impact energy, water and chemical usage, as well as the longevity, repairability, and recyclability of a product. In our latest article, we spoke with our Head of Design, Eva Weiss to learn more about the questions, challenges, and complexities involved in our ongoing mission to design more responsible products. “Knowing what to prioritize and making the right decisions can be very challenging, but we are looking into every detail and are not afraid to experiment,” she says. We know from product life cycle assessments that the largest part of a product’s environmental footprint comes from the production of its materials. While it's relatively straightforward to find materials with a lower environmental impact, sourcing materials that also meet outdoor performance standards like durability and waterproofness can be particularly challenging. Oscar Darle, Material Technologist Manager at Haglöfs, explains why this is tricky and why, despite the challenges, we remain committed to finding better solutions, here: https://lnkd.in/dKWdexRW (4 min read)

Sweden's mountains offer breathtaking landscapes and a rich diversity of flora and fauna, including moose, foxes, and reindeer. However, the growing popularity of heliskiing threatens this unique environment as it disturbs critical wildlife recovery periods. The noise pollution generated by helicopters not only drives animals from their habitats but also disrupts their breeding and foraging behaviors, posing a threat to the entire ecosystem. Find out more about the impact of heliskiing on wildlife here https://lnkd.in/d4Q9xhSz and let us know: Do you think that brief moment of thrill is worth it? #heliskiing #animalwelfare

Yesterday's approval of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) by the EU Parliament marks a significant milestone in our journey toward more ethical and sustainable business practices. Yet, as we celebrate this progressive step, we must also confront a critical shortfall in the legislation—the thresholds defining which companies are in scope are simply too high. Under the new rules, only companies with more than 1,000 employees and a global turnover exceeding €450 million are required to comply. This leaves a vast number of mid-sized companies, like ours, outside the direct purview of the directive. Why is this a concern? Because sustainable practices shouldn't be a badge of honor worn only by the largest conglomerates. Mid-sized enterprises constitute a substantial portion of the market and often have significant environmental and social impacts. By setting the bar so high, the EU has inadvertently allowed countless companies to sidestep the kind of rigorous scrutiny that could lead to meaningful changes across industries. If the goal of CSDDD is genuinely to forge a sustainable future, then including mid-sized companies in its scope isn't just advisable—it's essential. These businesses are agile enough to implement rapid changes and significant enough to make a difference. It's time we recognize that true sustainability comes from universal accountability, not just the oversight of the few. At Haglöfs we will keep advocating for a lower threshold, bringing more companies into the fold, and making the directive as effective and transformative as it promises to be. #CSDDD https://lnkd.in/d47rADSg
