'Mats Paulsson Foundations' and Medicon Village cordially invite you to celebrate the announcement of this year's donation recipients on 18 October. On 1 May this year, Mats Paulsson turned 80. To honour the founder of the foundations on his birthday, the boards of Mats Paulsson Foundations decided to double this year’s donation allocation to SEK 50 million. This increase allows for the support of special international collaborations and research efforts into Alzheimer's disease, in addition to the regular focus areas, which include equipment and research projects in fields such as ATMP and/or cancer research. In conjunction with the announcement of this year’s donation recipients, the event will also feature guest lectures, a speech by Sweden's Minister for Education, Mats Persson, and a concluding networking session. When entrepreneur Mats Paulsson founded Medicon Village in 2012, he established a non-profit foundation named 'Mats Paulsson’s Foundation for Research, Innovation, and Societal Development' as its owner. Both the 'Mats Paulsson Foundations' and Medicon Village share a mission to support new projects focusing on vital research and innovation, ultimately improving people's quality of life. The sustainable ownership model ensures that returns on capital, along with surpluses from Medicon Village’s activities, are reinvested in research. 'Mats Paulsson’s foundations' welcome donations of all sizes from private individuals, companies, and organisations. For more information, please contact karin.peterson@matspaulssonstiftelserna.com. Funding opportunity for your research project: HALRIC welcomes life science projects that work cross-border and will utilise at least one research infrastructure in the Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak-Hamburg region. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with upcoming deadlines on 17 September and 28 November. The Hanseatic Life Science Research Infrastructure Consortium (HALRIC) aims to be a springboard for innovation capacity in the life science sector by increasing access to and use of cross-border front-end technologies, instruments, expertise, and data-handling solutions. This includes large-scale infrastructures such as MAX IV, ESS, DESY, and European XFEL, as well as cutting-edge complementary infrastructures at universities and hospitals in the ÖKS-Hamburg region. Through pilot projects, HALRIC facilitates collaboration between academia, hospitals, SMEs, and larger biotech and pharma companies, and we invite more research project proposals for the use of one or more research infrastructures within the HALRIC consortium. The 21 partners in the Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak supported project aim to open the door to new techniques and methodologies that help solve research questions. We also work to strengthen the life science ecosystems and strategic dialogues between the four countries involved in the project (Denmark, Germany, Norway, and Sweden).
