Streaming Wars Intensify: Netflix Still on Top, But Challengers Close In The streaming battlefield has been anything but quiet these past few years. New data from global Google searches on cost, price, and subscription highlights a high level of purchase intent, and some surprising shifts in the landscape: Netflix: Holds its lead, but growth is slowing, suggesting market saturation. Amazon Prime Video: Explosive growth makes it a formidable contender. Its vast content library and Prime membership perks are a powerful combination. YouTube Premium: Gains traction, attracting users who want an ad-free, enhanced YouTube experience. HBO Max: Experiences a decline, potentially due to content changes and competition. Across all platforms, a consistent theme emerges: high interest in subscription costs and plans. Pricing and value are key for consumers. Market Analysis: The streaming market is more dynamic than ever. While Netflix remains the king, its competitors are gaining ground. Amazon Prime Video's rapid growth is particularly noteworthy, and YouTube Premium is carving out its own niche. HBO Max's decline serves as a reminder that even established players need to innovate constantly to stay relevant. The overall market is still expanding, with viewers demanding diverse and accessible content. But with more choices than ever, streaming services must offer compelling value to attract and retain subscribers. The Bottom Line The streaming wars are far from over. Expect new players to enter the fray and existing ones to fight fiercely to keep their viewers engaged. The winners will be those who offer the best content at the right price, with a keen understanding of what viewers truly want. Deep dive into our Market Brief in comments. #streaming #streamingwars #netflix #amazonprimevideo #youtubepremium #hbomax #content #marketing #digital

It’s budget season what metric are you using together a With your CFO to attribute the investments in going to market?

One of the biggest challenges for many companies is connecting their marketing budget to business outcomes. As some of you may know, I don't believe in media attribution because, in my view, it's nearly impossible to pinpoint the exact role of a specific media channel in driving results. This is especially true when multiple channels are running simultaneously, and factors like product, distribution, and pricing are often overlooked. However, I do believe you can easily demonstrate the effectiveness of your marketing budget using search data. I created an example for my friend Krister 🤖 Karjalainen (he didn't request it, but I thought it might be useful in his new role at Ozoneair). The graph I developed tracks their main brand name and the products showcased on their website. It shows that the brand initially led searches, followed by product interest. However, there's been a recent shift, where product-related searches have overtaken the brand (see fig. 1). My analysis is that the launch of their new product, Guard, was driven purely by performance marketing without the support of a branding campaign. Regardless, the data now shows that investing in product launches or media spending for the main brand increases interest in your products, and thus revenue, as search data correlates to sales by an average of 83%. This will provide you with actionable insights, allowing you to take action before it's too late (see graph, Fig. 2). It's great to see that they've brought Krister on board as Head of Growth to ensure that negative trends don't become permanent.

A brand is the sum of all its products and services

𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲'𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 The biggest threat to economy is always the demand from the market on products and services and the ability for companies to produce at a cost that we are willing to pay and still generates enough revenue for the company. Therfore the discussion on Marketing and not only Promotion/MEDIA but actually the job of the four FUll Ps is crucial but also having real data on. demand. If you think about it, consumers don’t just buy Jarritos; they buy specific Jarritos products. Therefore, the best way to track brand performance is by assessing your ability to sell these products or services at a price that generates a healthy margin and profit. To track this effectively, I recommend monitoring the performance of your individual products and services. The aggregated demand trends for your products provide a clear view of how your brand is performing overall. For example, you can see how Novamex is driving global growth for the Jarritos US brand. On an aggregated level, the various flavors are all growing, contributing positively to the overall brand performance.
