Jobseeking in Sweden can take days, months, or even years. And it’s not easy to constantly receive rejection letters from potential employers. Our founder Greg Fernando was recently at Impact Hub Stockholm to discuss this very difficult topic and help provide solutions that promote jobseeker wellbeing. Greg was able to share some tips from wellbeing specialist Vini Doshi, and he hopes that all of us in Sweden can also solve some of the systemic issues that cause these challenges in the first place. Thanks so much to Impact Hub Stockholm and Catalina Robayo Serrano for shining a light on this important topic! Let's keep the conversation going 😊 #Wellbeing #InternationalTalent #ImpactHubStockholm

Did you know that approximately 35% of people in Sweden are either foreign born or the child of someone foreign born? One of our goals here at New to Sweden is to make sure that absolutely everyone, no matter their background, feels more included. But what is inclusion, anyway? For us, inclusion means that every person in Sweden feels welcome, safe and free to be their authentic selves. In the workplace, it means knowing that they are part of a fair and equal hiring and progression process — that it’s a level playing field. But the truth is there’s no quick fix. Inclusion takes a sustained effort across many levels of society. And that’s why, since we started almost 4 years ago, New to Sweden has focused on 3 main pillars. 🟡 Internationals: We guide internationals in the Swedish labor market through training programs like Ready to Work. 🔵 Employers: We collaborate with employers to help them attract and retain people with different backgrounds. Our inclusion workshops have allowed us to work with companies like Google, Securitas, Nordea, SEB, and Vattenfall. 🟣 Communities: We engage with our local Swedish communities, like through the 1046 Inclusion Initiative. Our goal is to show people that Sweden’s diversity is more than just numbers and statistics. Inclusion matters for every one of us, and we want to help make sure we all feel welcomed and included in Sweden. Here’s to making progress together! #Inclusion #Inkludering #Sverige

New to Sweden is honored to share that the 1046 Sverige Inclusion Initiative has won the national Catalyst category for the 2024 Blaze Inclusion Awards! The initiative was co-founded by New to Sweden’s own Greg Fernando and Brandon Sekitto and aims to help all 10.46 million people living in Sweden feel included, regardless of age, sex, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, different abilities or neurodiversity. You can catch Greg in Oslo later this month at The Annual, a gala in celebration of the awards. He’ll join speaking events with different panels of inclusion experts on Sept. 27th — and take part in the Blaze Inclusion Awards on Sept. 28th. Special thanks to Chisom Udeze and Diversify Collective for organizing these events! 💙 Check out the event page to learn more and grab a ticket: https://theannual.no #BlazeInclusionAwards #Inclusion #1046Sverige

Meet the New to Sweden team! We’re a passionate group of over 20 people working together to help make things easier for internationals living in Sweden. Our team is made up of program facilitators, DEIB researchers, wellbeing specialists, board members, project managers, and more. With so many different experiences and professional backgrounds, we’re united by a common goal of supporting newcomers to Sweden by creating long-term solutions for a more integrated labor market. And getting to see the changes we’ve already made together is what keeps us motivated and moving forward. ➡ And our team is spread across not only Sweden, but the world! We collaborate across time zones, from Dubai to Stockholm to Paris to Lund. Most of us have been newcomers to Sweden ourselves, and we’re constantly working to bring in and lift up new perspectives. The goal is an inclusive team that reflects the society we operate in. Stay tuned this fall as we dive deeper into the different departments that make up New to Sweden. 💙 #Teamwork #Collaboration #DiversityAndInclusion

🤔 Why did we start New to Sweden? It’s simple: data shows that the challenges facing internationals in Sweden are widespread — and systemic problems need systemic solutions. Our organization is creating a range of solutions all about helping newcomers integrate here in Sweden. We focus on 3 main pillars of integration: Internationals, Employers, and Swedish Communities. Our team has created a variety of different inclusion programs for employers, a Ready to Work program to support internationals in the Swedish labor market, and a national inclusion initiative to help improve social integration. We’re celebrating our 4-year anniversary later this fall and can’t wait to see what’s next on the horizon! And we’re glad to have you on board. 💙 #Inclusion #Integration #Sverige

What an exciting day yesterday! New to Sweden's Greg Fernando and 1046 co-founder Brandon Sekitto visited Momodou Malcolm Jallow at the Riksdagen. Malcolm is the chair of the Civil Affairs Committee and one of 2 Afro-Swedes sitting in the 349 seat Swedish parliament. Together, Brandon, Greg and Malcolm discussed Swedish integration issues and the 1046 Sverige inclusion initiative. They also had a meaningful discussion about the importance of foreign-born representation at the leadership level. It was a productive meeting, and we're looking forward to a continued collaboration after the summer. Stay tuned! :) #sverige #diversityandinclusion #sweden #1046sverige
