New Method for Smell Training Gains Media Attention in Sweden 💡 Recently, Swedish media has highlighted a new method for smell training, developed in collaboration with researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Oriola has been entrusted with distributing this product to pharmacies.   A significant majority of Covid-19 patients who lost their sense of smell and taste during the pandemic do not complete the recommended smell rehabilitation, often finding it too cumbersome. The loss of smell has a severely negative impact on quality of life, with as many as half of those affected reporting feelings of sadness and depression. The new method involves scented "smell plugs" made of silicone that are inserted into the nose, allowing users to continue their daily activities, which is a major improvement over previous methods. The project is led by Professor Johan Lundström at the Karolinska Institute, and studies show that approximately 93% of patients complete their treatment using this new method, compared to only 12-15% with the standard method. A new clinical study reveals that NOSA Smell training is more effective than the current standard care in Sweden due to its high compliance. Karolinska Institutet, together with Lund University, has shown in an independent clinical study that NOSA Smell Training is the most effective method for the treatment of impaired sense of smell (hyposmia). The high percentage of people who complete the treatment with Smell training compared to standard care indicates that more individuals can be helped with Smell training than with standard care. The clinical study was led by esteemed Professor Johan Lundström and marks a clinical breakthrough in how to treat patients with an impaired sense of smell. More than 20% of the world's population suffers from some type of smell impairment. Now there is a better solution for them to regain their sense of smell.

NOSA receives positive test results for intra nasal drug delivery platform                             NOSA Plugs AB (NOSA) has, through independent lab tests, evaluated whether the existing product design in their technology platform enables fast and long-lasting drug administration via the nose. The company announces today that they have obtained positive results, which marks the first step in the development towards becoming an accepted drug delivery platform. This technology is developed with the aim to enable absorption of APIs via the olfactory bulb and the central nervous system. This new form of administration could open up treatment possibilities for diseases that are currently difficult to treat.
