Sharkmob is a game development company with studios located in Malmö, (Sweden) and London (UK). We are currently working on one major project: Exoborne – a Sharkmob original game created in Malmö, is a tactical, open-world extraction shooter set in a United States torn apart by apocalyptic forces of nature. Our first game Bloodhunt - a battle royale set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, was released on 27 April 2022. We are fortunate to work with things we are passionate about and we have the privilege of creating entertainment for others to enjoy. We believe that if we have fun making games, people will have fun playing them. Fun is also about daring to do mighty things that allow us to reach levels of achievement we otherwise can't. All things said we want a fun, professional experience and so we all must lead by example. We want everyone to feel like they have a stake in the games we make. Our games are not the brainchild of a few people - we own them together. Everyone’s contributions, opinions, and feedback matter. For this to work everyone needs to respect the big picture and high-level goals of the project. Shared ownership is at the heart of the Sharkmob adventure. We are here to create great games. We want to work on games that people talk about and remember, that capture our imagination and bring people together. To achieve this, we work as a team and in doing so we embrace the concept of "disagree and commit". This means that we accept that we might not always get our way but we wholeheartedly support decisions made as a team.

Game economy design is an emerging specialization within game design, and something which comes with its fair share of misconceptions. It is a field which has attained significant importance with the rise of Games-as-a-Service, along with the Free-to-Play business model. For the past few years, I have structured the knowledge and experience I have gained over my career to date, and put this on paper. It feels incredible to see my book, "Game Economy Design: Metagame, Monetization and Live Operations" released; published by CRC Press. The book covers the core components of game economy design, from high level planning, through to lower level design techniques and methods for post-launch development, along with monetization. A key aspect of the book involves a practical approach, beyond purely theoretical knowledge, with empirical examples, and insights into the realities of building metagame and economy systems within modern video games. Thank-you to my editor Will Bateman, Matt Zanetti for cover design and help with diagrams, Tobias Sjögren for the foreword, and Heikki Joas for introducing me to this fascinating field.
