Over the past year, Trans Europe Halles has been working #BehindTheScenes, developing new #initiatives and securing #funding to support our network. In the coming weeks, we will unpack the #projects we have applied for – and the ones that have been #awarded. The first TEH #initiative we are excited to share is... 👉 Common Spaces, funded by #CreativeEurope programme of the #EuropeanUnion and co-funded by the Kulturrådet - Swedish Arts Council. This initiative builds on years of research and collaboration from The Network Project (2021–2024, also co-funded by Creative Europe) and will run from #2025 to #2028. The Common Spaces initiative is designed to strengthen independent cultural spaces such as the 160+ diverse members of Trans Europe Halles spanning 40+ countries. Many Trans Europe Halles members operate in repurposed buildings: former industrial sites, factories, schools, warehouses and other heritage spaces. These places are deeply rooted in their #communities, yet they face growing pressures from shifting political landscapes and climate change, rising energy costs and inflation, underinvestment in cultural infrastructure and so on. The Common Spaces initiative builds on TEH’s long-standing commitment to cross-border and thematic collaboration, establishing the network as a central platform for knowledge-sharing, resource exchange and collective action. Over the next 4️⃣ years, a series of 🍀 meetings, ☀️ workshops, 💥 training sessions, 💻 peer exchanges, 💫 networking events, 🍮 facilitated discussions and 🕹️ open forums, as well as 📖 learning resources and 📚 various publications will support cultural spaces in strengthening their resilience, sustainability and community engagement. There’s more to come 😎 Stay tuned as we unpack all the various elements of Common Spaces, and reveal the next initiatives TEH was awarded funding to execute in 2025 and on, that will shape the #future of independent cultural centres, as well as communities they serve, across Europe & beyond. 🔗 For more details on Common Spaces, click the #link below. #TransEuropeHalles #CommonSpaces #Commoning #CreativeEurope

🎭 Despite the #impact that #culture has on society, cultural #funding is not automatically guaranteed in the EU budget. The European Commission is currently preparing for the next multiannual financial framework (#MFF), the EU's long-term budget, which will start in 2028, and calls #Europeans for #PublicConsultations, in a form of a questionnaire. Without public pressure and #YourVoice, cultural funding (from 2028 and on) may be de-prioritised. As the European Commission is asking for public input until 🗓️ 6 May 2025, this is the perfect moment #ForYou to demand that culture remains central to Europe’s future. Steer it in the direction #YouThink is the best! 💬 Be vocal about culture being not an entertainment, a nice "add-on" or a luxury, but it’s an #investment in Europe’s future and resilience. Respond to the questionnaire in any EU language. Share your voice! Have your say! 📝 Act now → Read more → and... 🔗 Check the link to the questionnaire in the comments. #InvestInCulture #FutureOfEurope #CreativeEurope #ShareYourVoice
