Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has continued its strong capital markets rebuild, buoyed by India’s bullish stock market sentiment, with the addition of Gayathri Ramachandran as a partner in Bengaluru. Ramachandran joins from investment firm Premji Invest where she was a senior legal manager for a year. She previously had two stints at CAM - as senior consultant from 2021 to 2023, and as a senior associate from 2014 to 2018. She has also headed the legal team at unicorn startup Livspace dotcom, and held an in-house role at healthcare company Yashoda Hospitals. Ramachandran has a decade of experience in the corporate law and capital markets space. She has been part of several marquee capital market transactions and has also advised private equity clients on their exits through IPOs. “Gayathri is an experienced practitioner with knowledge of securities laws and sharp commercial understanding having worked on the client side. Tax-focussed Economic Laws Practice (ELP) has continued its strategic diversification into other practice areas with the addition of Khaitan & Co partner Sudip Mullick, who was a partner in the real estate and construction practices and spearheaded that firm’s hospitality group. PRC law firm Jia Yuan Law Offices has strengthened its capital markets practice in Hong Kong after hiring partner Wanda Woo and her team from A&O Shearman. Woo’s team includes A&O Shearman lawyers Chaoyi Feng and 顾雯昕, who will be joining Jia Yuan as consultants. Woo becomes Jia Yuan’s second partner hire from A&O Shearman in a week, after the arrival of Daisy Qi as senior partner and head of the investment funds practice in Shanghai. U.S. law firm O'Melveny & Myers LLP has rebuilt its presence in Singapore with the addition of Stephanie Keen (L) and Sylvia M. Taslim as partners from Hogan Lovells. They become O’Melveny’s first resident partners in the city-state in some years. Both lawyers specialise in M&A and private equity, with Keen being a former head of Hogan Lovells' Asia-Pacific private equity and corporate and finance practices. Meanwhile, Taslim has nearly two decades of experience advising clients on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, public takeovers, private equity transactions, and venture capital investing. “Many of our clients have a significant—and growing—presence in Singapore, and the rise in South and Southeast Asia transactional activity has led to greater demand for sophisticated advisors of Stephanie and Sylvia’s calibre,” said Bradley Butwin, O’Melveny's chair, in a statement. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has advised global investor Advent International on its $294 million acquisition of a minority stake in Apollo Healthco (AHL), a subsidiary of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (AHEL), which was guided by Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co AZB & Partners also advised AHEL and its board in relation to the transaction, while Ropes & Gray LLP served as international counsel to Advent and its investment vehicle Rasmeli, in relation to compliance with foreign anti-corruption and anti-money laundering laws.
