🌍 Final Day of ASMI’s Middle East Business Mission – Wrapping Up in Qatar! 🇶🇦 Our last day in Qatar was packed with invaluable meetings and insights, marking the close of a successful week-long journey across the Middle East. We started the day with an enriching session alongside seasoned experts from CoreInfo Consultancy and Power Consultancy, who shared their extensive experience in the oil and gas sector 🔥, offering a wealth of knowledge and perspectives for our delegation. Next, we headed north of Doha to visit Petrotec and their facilities, gaining a deeper understanding of their operations and potential areas for collaboration. Later, our delegation visited the Qatar Free Zones Authority, where we were introduced to the impressive facilities and space available for companies seeking to use Qatar as a gateway to the GCC region 🌍. With a packed schedule, we had to keep moving, so lunch was a quick grab-and-go—check out one of the snapshots of us enjoying shawarma on the bus! 🌯🚍 We rounded off with an informative meeting with Sovereign PPG, who provided precise guidance on legal entity setup options, sharing the pros and cons that sparked active discussions among participants. The day was rich with insights on how Qatar can open doors for Singapore companies in the region. Reflecting on this mission – our first post-COVID business trip to the Middle East – the delegation shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, noting the fruitful opportunities, cultural exchange, and strong bonds formed throughout the week 🤝. While some of our team returns to Singapore, others are en route to ADIPEC Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪 , where ASMI will be showcasing Singapore’s marine and offshore engineering capabilities with a pavilion featuring 17 Singapore companies 🚢⚙️. 🌍 Day 4 of ASMI’s Business Mission in the Middle East: Welcome to Qatar! 🇶🇦 Our Singapore delegation hit the ground running in Doha with a series of productive meetings that showcased the rich potential for collaboration in Qatar’s maritime and offshore energy sectors. The day started with an engaging session with NAKILAT's Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions ⚓, offering insights into their operations and opportunities for synergies. We then connected with Almana Group, where we were introduced to their diverse portfolio and discussed avenues for collaboration with Singapore companies across various sectors. Our next stop was Al Tawfeeq Petroleum Services, where we got a glimpse into their family-run business and their future plans and interests. Lunch was a quick bite on the go 🥪🚍 as we made our way to meet Qatar Engineering & Construction Company W.L.L., which operates its own marine and shipyard facilities. The day concluded with an informal yet impactful dialogue with the Embassy of Singapore’s Chargé d'Affaires in Doha, joined by a representative from Taleb Group, who also serves on the Singapore Business Council in Qatar. This conversation highlighted Qatar-Singapore ties and the potential for further partnerships. Throwback to our first cohort of Marine Digitalisation Champion (MDigiC) Workshop attendees, who received their certificates last week at the Marine & Offshore Energy Symposium 2024! 🚀 Day 3: Wrapping Up in Saudi Arabia and Off to Qatar! 🇸🇦➡️🇶🇦 Our final day in Saudi Arabia took us to Al Jubail, where we explored the Ras Alkhair Industrial City Special Economic Zone. Meeting with the CEO and senior management gave us an up-close look at the exciting potential for Singapore companies to set up operations within this strategic hub. With its newly established infrastructure, the zone is ripe for Singapore’s expertise to help build a robust supply chain to support its growth 🌐. We were warmly hosted by International Maritime Industries (IMI) for a productive meeting and lunch, followed by insightful discussions with Makeen. Together, these sessions shed light on opportunities for Singapore companies to contribute to this rapidly developing ecosystem 🤝. A highlight of the day was a yard tour of the largest integrated shipyard in MENA, including a drive through the expansive dry dock! This incredible facility has both dry and wet docks for vessels, specialised areas for jackup rigs, and ample space for MRO companies. With a vast residential and accommodation area, it’s well-equipped to support companies establishing their facilities here 🛠️⚓. With Saudi Arabia complete, our delegation is now en route to Qatar, catching the final flight to embark on the next leg of our Middle East Business Mission.
