We are pleased to announce our participation in the Energy Market Authority (EMA)’s regulatory sandbox, where we will pilot the integration of our electric vehicle (EV) charging stations into the Demand Response (DR) programme. Through this initiative, our network of nearly 1,000 charging stations will explore adjusting charging volumes during DR events to help balance demand and supply across the electricity grid. ComfortDelGro Managing Director/Group CEO, Mr Siak Kian Cheng said: “We are excited to partner with the Energy Market Authority of Singapore in this pilot program. As the only EV charging operator in Singapore with a large operating fleet, ComfortDelGro is uniquely positioned to contribute to a more efficient and sustainable energy grid. This regulatory sandbox provides a valuable opportunity to test and develop new capabilities, paving inroads to adjacent businesses and accelerating the transition of our fleet." This collaboration represents a step towards building a more resilient electricity grid and advancing a sustainable energy future, supporting Singapore’s journey towards greener mobility.
DPM and Minister for Trade and Industry Mr Gan Kim Yong spoke about Singapore’s energy transition to meet our net-zero goal at #SIEW2024. First, EMA will issue a grant call for studies on carbon capture and storage for power generation. If found to be feasible, this could be a pathway to reduce carbon emissions from the power sector that contributes to around 40% of Singapore’s emissions. As we transition to cleaner energy sources, we need to ensure our power grid remains resilient. EMA will therefore be collaborating with SP Group to develop a Future Grid Capabilities Roadmap for industry and researchers. We will also promote energy demand flexibility to enhance grid reliability. One collaboration is with ComfortDelGro to explore the use of electric vehicle chargers to manage demand. The International Energy Agency (IEA) will be opening its Regional Cooperation Centre here in Singapore. The centre is IEA’s first office outside its headquarters in Paris. IEA will be working with countries in Southeast Asia and beyond to enhance energy security and accelerate the clean energy transition. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gzyfwKCf #SIEW #SIEW2024

Our outdoor advertising arm, Moove Media, is excited to announce the trial of Dynamic Cab Advertising — Singapore's first taxi top smart digital billboards. As the first of its kind in Singapore, 50 vehicles will be fitted with these new taxi top smart digital billboards for a six-month trial approved by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore. These billboards will dynamically display different ads based on the vehicle's location, time of day and prevailing weather conditions, allowing advertisers to tailor their messaging and engage audiences with precision. Singapore will be one of the first few markets in the world to feature digital advertising on top of taxis after New York, UK, Hong Kong and India. These vibrant displays will not only add a new dimension to Singapore's cityscape but also contribute to a more sustainable advertising environment. The first 50 taxis with smart digital billboards will hit the roads by 14 October 2024, with Amazon as our first client to adopt this new advertising format. When Anna Tkaczyk made the bold decision to leave her home in Poland and move to the UK, she could not have imagined just how life-changing it would be. Stepping out of her comfort zone into a new country without knowing what the future holds was a leap of faith. In 2007, despite facing language barriers and adjusting to a new environment, Anna began her journey as a bus driver. Sixteen years later, she has climbed the ranks, moving from Supervisor to Operations Manager, and now serves as Deputy Head of Transport Safety at Metroline Ltd - a testament to her passion for learning and growth. In her current role, Anna manages accident reviews and leads crucial safety initiatives, including crisis management. Her hard work pays off as her team continues to reduce serious road incidents, bringing them closer to Vision Zero — Transport for London's goal to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries by 2041. “We are moving from a reactive to a proactive approach to enhance safety for all road users. We've made great strides, with continued collective effort, there's so much more we can achieve,” Anna says. Looking back at her career, Anna reflects on entering the transport industry with little knowledge about the future. Along the way, she learned English, formed lasting friendships, and applied her knowledge to her evolving role. Supported by her dedicated colleagues and loving family, she has truly thrived. “Metroline has been incredibly supportive, providing many opportunities for career development and growth. It’s been an incredible journey,” she shares. When asked about the stresses of the job, Anna acknowledges the challenges but leaves with an encouraging message, “Yes, it can be stressful but that shouldn't stop you from achieving your goals. Stay curious, embrace learning and trust yourself — you can accomplish anything. This job is for everyone.”

Thank you Eco-Business, for inviting our Chairman, Mr Mark Greaves, to join the fireside chat on how the board can empower organisations to achieve long-term success and sustainability. During the discussion, he highlighted the Board's pivotal role in shaping the company's culture, driving sustainable practices, and ensuring future resilience. By integrating sustainability into everything we do, the Board plays a critical role in guiding our long-term strategy and ensuring that we create lasting value for people, the planet, and society. Through responsible stewardship, we remain committed to driving positive impact and building a sustainable future. #ComfortDelGro #UnlockingCapital #UCFS2024 #UnlockingCapitalForSustainability #BoardGovernance #Stewardship
At this afternoon’s fireside chat in partnership with Singapore Institute of Directors, we examined how the board can empower their organisations and ensure their long-term success and sustainability. Atty Federico Tancongco, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Compliance and Legal Department, BDO Unibank believes a company’s transition to net zero begins with the mindset of the board. So long as a diet is called a diet, he shared, there is a chance that unhealthy practices can return. A change towards healthier habits — or, in a business context, sustainability — must be built into the organisation as a daily practice, beginning from the organisation’s leaders. “What brought us here may not get us there,” he reminded. Boards must remain humble to welcome new experiments and ideas. Mark Greaves, Chairman, ComfortDelGro Corporation, shared his belief that its with their experience and understanding that boards balance the needs of stakeholders with owners while keeping an eye on the future. “We do quite a lot of things that don’t make money in the short- or even medium-term,” says Mark. “We do them because we intend to integrate the learnings we gain into the mainstream business and ultimately improve the bottom line.” Sustainability, both speakers agree, must flow from the top-down and bottom-up and meet in the middle to transform organisations. The board itself must champion everything that an organisation does, including sustainability.
