Another fulfilling week of fostering relationship with both Danish organisations and stakeholders in Singapore 🇩🇰🇸🇬 Have you heard? In Singapore, every baby receives a hearing test at birth, known as universal newborn hearing screening 👶 Research has showed that about 0.1% of babies born in Singapore have severe or profound hearing loss, and about 0.5% have lesser degrees of hearing loss 🩺(https://lnkd.in/dkUZZzym) (https://lnkd.in/d23tsvNC). 🌍 Singapore is the second fastest ageing nation in Asia. It is projected that 50% of residents aged 80 years and above will have significant age-related hearing loss 👂 (https://lnkd.in/d23tsvNC). On a global scale, the increased risk of hearing loss in young people due to lifestyles and habits, goes against the notation that hearing loss only impacts the aged (https://lnkd.in/dHYSK8vs). Hearing loss impairs a person’s ability to communicate and appreciate pleasurable sounds like music 🔊Leaving it untreated can lead to social isolation, anxiety, and even depression (https://lnkd.in/gn6nSYCY). The WS Audiology team shared with Ambassador Jakob Brix Tange and Deputy Head of Mission Rasmus Bjørnø the impactful ways their organization is addressing these pressing health issues. If you are a Danish health and medtech organisation and would like to explore market opportunities in Singapore, please contact Chin Ee CHAI, Senior Commercial Advisor. 🌏 Tackling Diabetes in SEA with Danish Innovation Another fulfilling week of fostering relationship with both Danish organisations and stakeholders in Singapore🇩🇰🇸🇬 📊 Here are facts about the state of our health: 👩⚕️Diabetes treatment varies in Southeast Asia. Some countries have robust healthcare systems, which sees prevention, diagnosis and treatment readily available while others have varying access to treatment within a province. Singapore has the former. Yet, it is estimated that there will be an increase of 50% in diabetic residents above 40 by 2030, up from 400,000 in 2023📈 \ https://lnkd.in/eaW_EbBB. Over the last decade, measures by Singapore government in its fight against diabetes include: 🔹 advocating and educating its population to take onus of one’s health, 🔹 strengthening the healthcare infrastructure to increase accessibility and affordability of treatment for chronic illnesses, 🔹 access to free exercise programs, 🔹 mandating the labelling of drinks based on their sugar and saturated fat content. 📆 World Diabetes Day falls on 14 November 2024. The battle against diabetes must continue not only in Singapore but also around the world. 🤝The Novo Nordisk team shared with Ambassador Jakob Brix Tange and Deputy Head of Mission Rasmus Bjørnø how their organisations tackle the above alarming health issues. They are dedicated to contribute to local communities in Singapore and Southeast Asia. As a responsible Danish organisation, Novo Nordisk looks internally at upholding a good work culture for employees; externally, how it can bring positive impacts to communities, value-chains and mother earth (turning waste to furnishing)! 🌱♻️ If you are a Danish health and medtech organisation and would like to explore market opportunities in Singapore, please contact Chin Ee CHAI, Senior Commercial Advisor. 🚚Driving Sustainability Forward in Singapore!⚡️ 🇩🇰The Embassy had the honour of witnessing the expansion of EV fleets by DSV - Global Transport and Logistics Singapore, which signifies DSV's commitment to actively contributing to both Singapore and Denmark's Net Zero goal by 2050. Quoting our Ambassador, Jakob Brix Tange, "Achieving net zero is a daunting task, but taking simple yet concrete actions, like DSV has done, is what counts!" 🔌This event marks a step forward in the move toward greener transportation. It is important to see not only the push from the public sector but also the initiative taken by the private sector, like DSV in this case, leading the way in sustainable logistics. 🇸🇬We look forward to collaborating with Danish companies contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future in Singapore.
