"“Startups offer complementary solutions provided by the big firms. They address gaps in areas that the bigger players cannot reach because they are too remote or do not find economical to pursue, Valerio told Eco-Business. For instance, Shifttech Marine is a new enterprise from Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao that has developed a solar-powered battery for small fishermen as an alternative to the expensive car batteries that power their lights when they go out to sea at the break of dawn." https://lnkd.in/gejHnrDR

At Gurīn Energy, we make every possible effort to avoid waste in our operations. Where we can’t, we find ways to give it a second life, as recently demonstrated by our team in the Philippines. The team collected plastic straps from the solar PV modules delivered to our project in Palauig – packaging that would otherwise have gone to waste - and donated them to the IGLOTA Farmers Association this month. The association transforms the plastic straps into woven bags called bayong and sells them, supporting the livelihoods of local farmers. The 1,000kg of plastic straps collected will be turned into 450 woven bags as part of the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) “Waste to Bayong Project”. Care for the community and the environment are at the core of what we do at Gurīn Energy, and we’re proud of our Filipino colleagues! "Last year, the world added about 560 gigawatts of renewable power capacity, a 64% increase from 2022, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). However, many of these projects lack grid access because they are located in areas without thermal or other power plants, and the expansion of grid infrastructure has not kept pace with the rapid growth of renewable plants." https://lnkd.in/gybU7f5m

V is for Vanda: We’re proud to share the amazing progress made by our our joint-venture company, Vanda RE, last week. Vanda RE was awarded Conditional Licence by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) at the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum in Jakarta last week, in recognition of the technical and commercial viability of Vanda’s export project as well as its demonstrated ability to meet the requirements of both Indonesia and Singapore. Just a few days before, we had also announced a 1.2GW framework supply agreement with leading solar panel manufacturer Trinasolar for the same project. Together, these achievements accelerate the project’s path to commercial viability. We’re grateful for the support of the Indonesia and Singapore authorities, our dedicated partners, and our passionate team, all of whom made last week’s milestones a reality. We’re pleased to announce that we’ve reached a significant milestone in the development of our solar and battery project in Indonesia. This week, our joint venture company Vanda RE signed a framework supply agreement with Trinasolar Asia Pacific for 1.2GW of solar panels at a ceremony in Singapore. The PV modules will be deployed at the Vanda Solar & Battery Project in the Riau Islands, which will supply Singapore with 300MWh of non-intermittent clean energy once completed in 2027. The project supports Singapore’s target of importing up to 4GW of low-carbon electricity by 2035, and today’s announcement demonstrates Gurīn Energy’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition in Asia. https://lnkd.in/gikzYswQ #GurinEnergy #TrinaSolar #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #Renewables #Sustainability #Indonesia #Singapore #GreenCorridor
