Defining leadership and entrepreneurship as influence, Halogen Foundation believes that every young person has innate potential to influence and lead, becoming positive change-agents. By developing an entrepreneurial mindset, youths can be further equipped to contribute positively to society. Our vision is realising a world made better by future-ready young people, who step up and catalyse change in their communities.

“When pitching my ideas, I learnt how to do it with confidence, which will help me a lot when I chance upon someone who may want to invest in my business idea.” - Chelsea Kwok, NFTE participant from Greendale Secondary School We are FOUR months to the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE)! The top three finalists from each participating class, from 16 schools, in Singapore will pitch their business ideas to judges, with ultimately one person emerging as the winner. The winner is known as the Global Young Entrepreneur (Singapore), and they will be invited to represent Singapore at the World Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in New York and compete alongside youths from other parts of the world. 🗣🔥 As part of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) journey, Halogen brings secondary students who are gearing up for their business plan competition to our corporate partner’s work spaces to learn more about their scope of work, what it’s like to work in an office at the Downtown Financial District, and the structure of an effective elevator pitch. Last week, youths from Greendale Secondary School had a blast connecting with Booking.com's friendly and supportive staff and learnt personalised tips and tricks on how they can improve on their business pitch for the competition. 👉 Our part-time facilitators support youths we engage through this programme! 🔗 Learn how you can empower youths as a youth yourself at halogen.sg/volunteer

As we continue our SIM60 Anniversary celebrations, we are proud to share stories of SIM Alumni that showcase SIM's social purpose in action, which is to equip all who pass through our doors with the skills and knowledge to thrive in life and positively impact society. In this first #SIMTrailblazer series, we celebrate two alumni who have shown resilience, resourcefulness, and dedication to lifelong learning. Whilst achieving remarkable success, they are also paying it forward to create an impact in society. Ms Vivian Chua, a tech enthusiast, pursued her passion for IT and business despite financial constraints. After enrolling in a part-time marketing degree programme at SIM-RMIT University, she balanced work and studies, gaining valuable skills and knowledge. Today, she is the head of Services and Solutions for Greater Asia at HP, exemplifying the transformative power of education and continuous learning. She also gives back to SIM as a valued board member, contributing her expertise to guide and support the institution's mission.  At the SIM-University at Buffalo (UB) programme, Dr James Goh Jia Hao PBM took ownership of his education, even importing a sheep's brain to better understand neuroconnections. This hands-on approach, supported by SIM-UB's progressive learning environment, empowered him to pursue his passion for psychology and ultimately earn a doctorate from Harvard Business School. His journey showcases the transformative power of experiential learning. Drawing from his experiences, he gives back through mentorship and youth development in various community initiatives.   Click on the link below to learn more about these stories, celebrate their successes, and celebrate the legacy of SIM's commitment to nurturing future leaders and change-makers in our communities.

My first interaction with Halogen was back in 2022 when I was a corporate volunteer. What initiated me to join the NFTE program was my passion for advocating the entrepreneurship spirit, which aligns perfectly with Halogen's DNA. It moved me deeply to see the dedication of Halogen staff and volunteers working tirelessly to empower the youth in Singapore, helping to create a world made better by future-ready young people who step up and catalyse change in their communities. In the years since, I have witnessed Halogen go through significant changes, including an image upgrade, a growing team, and a wider group of volunteers. During this time, I also became an entrepreneur myself. I'm now glad to give back in a different way, supported by the company I founded, by sharing learnings on mindfulness and wellness. I enjoy answering burning questions from our youth volunteers, helping them take better care of themselves while they help others. Last week, I attended the corporate volunteers huddle at Halogen's office. It was heartwarming to see so many corporate volunteer fellows from different industries giving their time for the future of our youth. It was a great gathering with like-minded people and an inspiring discussion with the Halogen team, including Ivy Tse, Linda Salleh, and J.D. Lee, about possible ways to continually make a bigger impact. If you are reading this post and would like to play a part, don't forget to check out the Halogen page and make a move. Thank you, Halogen, for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful journey. Looking forward to more collaborations and impactful work together! #Entrepreneurship #YouthEmpowerment #Mindfulness #Wellness #CorporateVolunteering #HalogenSG

Officially released the Halogen National Young Leaders Fellowship highlight video a few days back, and while watching it over and over again during the review process, it reminded me of the wealth of experience our many speakers bring to this programme, that resulted in this incredible amalgamation of learning for all our 40 fellows this year. Big shout out to all our speakers and contributors. Thank you for taking time to journey with our fellows as they grow themselves as individuals, and learn to create meaningful change in the different fields they are in. Last month, our CEO Saleemah Ismail was invited as a guest panelist at the National Young Leaders Fellowship Induction Programme organised by Halogen! The programme recognizes and nurtures young leaders driven by passion and a motivation for serving the community. During one of the plenary sessions, Saleemah delved into an important topic of how leaders can serve their communities with a fierce sense of caring, yet maintain their own well-being and avoid the dreaded burnout. From building meaningful connections to learning the ‘Gen Z hand heart’ 🫶, we were honoured to have witnessed the young Fellows kickstart their leadership journey. Incredibly grateful to Halogen and the organizing team for allowing us to be a part of such a memorable event! . . . #NewLifeStories #halogensg #NYLF2024 #FellowsOfHalogen #youthsg #communitysg #leadership

Mentoring is such a meaningful way to give back to our future generation, and also a great opportunity to learn from our youth who are such bright minds filled with openness, interesting perspectives, and a constant hunger to learn. So grateful to have had time these past months to volunteer as a mentor with Halogen and Junior Achievement Singapore including teaching a full class of 38 students over 4hrs! It has been a truly enriching experience, and I’m lucky to have met such wonderful youths and children along the way! Thank you so much to Djulian Naval Wendy Tay Chew Hui Genevieve Ho Hau Yee Ng Joyce Tan for having me! 🥰
