We're pleased to be able to share Mr Romesh Angunawela's perspective on the using of the Vivinex™ multiSert™ injector. Thank you! #hoyasurgicaloptics #ophthalmology

The importance of IOL injector performance is hard to articulate to non-surgeons, but amazing lens implant technology deserves the same from the lens injector. Still having to load lenses into injectors or still using a metal rod-type injector for a premium lens with the risk of scratching isn't ideal. Enlarging the incision for lens insertion in small incision phacoemulsification is counter-intuitive. How the lens delivers in the eye from the injector in a smooth, controlled, and predictable way eliminates yet another variable for the surgeon to be aware of in delivering great, reproducible results. The perfect injector is preloaded, has a smooth injector mechanism, works through a small incision without enlarging, and delivers the lens predictably every time. It sounds fundamental and easy to achieve, but few have. The HOYA Surgical Optics Vivinex injector system is amazing to use. The fact that an injector can still surprise and delight after 25 years in ophthalmology is saying something!

- What should you consider before opting for an intraocular lens implant for presbyopia correction? - Presbyopia, or "aging eye," affects almost everyone over the age of 40, and today, intraocular lens implants are anadvanced option for correcting it. However, it is essential to consider several aspects before making a decision. - Personalized Evaluation: Every patient is unique. It is crucial to conduct a thorough assessment of visual needs. Not alleyes are suitable for all types of lenses. - Types of Lenses: There are different intraocular lenses, from monofocal to trifocal or extended range lenses. Each offersvarious solutions depending on your lifestyle, whether you work a lot in front of screens or engage in sports. - Realistic Outcomes: Although implants provide a significant improvement in near, intermediate, and distance vision, itis important to have realistic expectations. Some patients may still need glasses in specific situations, such as reading in low-light conditions. - Visual Adaptation: The brain needs time to adjust to the new way of seeing. Sometimes, this process can take weeks oreven months. Patience is key to achieving the best result. - Surgeon's Experience: The success of the surgery largely depends on the ophthalmologist's experience and a precise pre-operative assessment.

Mr Romesh Angunawela shares great insight into how pre consultation touchpoints can be used to educate and build the confidence of patients. Ultimately making face to face consultations more efficient. #hoyasurgicaloptics #ophthalmology

Conveying the value and benefits of the myriad of vision correction technologies we can offer our patients to enable them to make a confident choice can be challenging. However, you can meet your patient a long time before their first consultation. These virtual and educational touchpoints allow patients to connect with you and the clinic before entering your doors. Educational snippets enable the patient to be pre-informed and make better decisions about the treatment choices you'll discuss in your consultation time, leading to more efficient consultations and patient confidence in the choices they make. This process continues even after the consultation to reinforce choices and answer FAQs. This leads to a patient whose expectations are aligned with those of the surgeon, and ultimately happier patients. Thanks to HOYA Surgical Optics and Amanda Cardwell Carones MPH who recently interviewed me during The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) meeting to talk about our approach to patient education at OCL Vision.

One of the things I truly appreciate about HOYA Surgical Optics is their commitment to education. Many of their programs aren't just about promoting their own products—they often focus on broader lens categories, helping to elevate knowledge across the industry. This focus on education, without a direct sales pitch, shows a real partnership in making better vision accessible to more patients. Thank you, Hoya, for leading the way! #leadership #privatepractice #ophthalmology #partnership #lensreplacement #HoyaSurgicalOptics
