An exuberant lion dance kicked off the official opening of our new Singapore office on 15 February 2024. It was fantastic to have our colleagues and VIPs join us for the auspicious occasion, which was also the sixth day of the Lunar New Year. It's wonderful to see colleagues enjoying the new facilities in the office which include agile workspaces and meeting rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology to foster both in-person and online collaboration, focus rooms for smaller meetings and a spacious cafeteria which offers amazing views of the Marina Bay area. It was an absolute honour welcoming Tim Sweeney, President and CEO of Liberty Mutual to our Singapore and Sydney offices last week. Nearly 6,000 employees from across Asia Pacific who joined town halls with Tim went away feeling energised and inspired by his continued confidence in and commitment towards the region. From 4 to 6 September, the Liberty Insurance team, alongside our partners from APRIL International, spent 3 exciting days out on the course at the BMW Golf Cup National Final 2024 held at Tanah Merah Country Club. Located at Hole 4, we were in the heart of the action, witnessing impressive swings and passionate golfers vying for that elusive Hole-in-One prize! Though we didn't witness any Hole-in-One moments, we were thrilled to provide support and create a welcoming atmosphere for all golfers, come rain or shine! Close to 450 colleagues across our Asia Market locations of Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam participated in our first-ever Virtual Discover Day recently, learning more about market trends in the insurance and Electric Vehicle (EV) sectors. Dr Wit Sittivaekin (Moderator and Announcer of The Standard Wealth) gave an overview of the EV market, and how it had evolved, consumer trends and expectations, and product trends around EV insurance. Among the topics shared by Dr. Pongpanu Damrongsiri, Ph.D. (Executive Director, Thailand General Insurance Association) included Insurtech and the role of Gen AI, as well as trends for workplace and corporate insurance. Complementing these talks were seven virtual booths showcasing cross-functional knowledge and where colleagues could visit to learn more as well as network among themselves. Each department also shared more about the work they did, adding to the dynamism of the overall event. Thailand-based Sombat Kuerkulsilp AVP Non-Motor said: "The enriching content and diverse perspectives shared during the event were fantastic! It broadened my understanding of the insurance landscape and added value to my work." Also from Non-Motor but based in Vietnam, Duong Hien said Virtual Discovery Day has been a fantastic event, offering fresh insights into the dynamic changes in the insurance market. Singapore-based Felicia My Hanh Ngo Ngo from the Strategy and Experience who was a panelist at the session on EV market and trends said: “The diverse perspectives and backgrounds shared by the speakers gave me valuable insights into the insurance market and trends." Events like these remind us of the Power of shared knowledge and collaboration in driving innovation and growth within our industry. Excitement filled the air on 16 July 2024 when colleagues across the four Asia Market locations of Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam participated in what was our first Discovery Day event. True to its theme, Discovery Day provided colleagues an opportunity to visit in-location departmental booths, have their professional headshots taken, take part in games including a scavenger hunt, and attend talks on career development. They also enjoyed getting to know one another in a fun setting (Kudos to some teams for going all the way and dressing up both their booths and as movie characters! Massive props too to our Summer Interns for playing a critical role in organizing this event). Calling it an “incredible opportunity for colleagues to step out of their day-to-day work and to learn how other departments and lines of businesses create value for customers and partners”, Kyle Hung, VP (Product Motor; Hong Kong) said: “Collectively we learn how to win with purpose, together!” Jeffery Lam, AVP (Claims – Motor; Hong Kong) is already looking forward to 2025. “It was fantastic learning about the projects undertaken by the various departments. The case studies they shared were really illuminating! My favorite activity was the Kahoot game run by the Risk and Compliance team. They brought great energy and vibe!” Echoing Jeffery’s views was Lenny Ang, Head (Distribution; Singapore). “I truly enjoyed SG Discovery Day! Visiting the booths and getting a better understanding of how other departments functioned made it a very worthwhile morning. The games and goodies made learning even more enjoyable. I’m looking forward to the next event!" The opportunity to learn about various departments while having fun was also a major draw for three Thai colleagues: Jantima Thanomlertchai, AVP (Accounting), Piyarat Hirunchotipong, Assistant Manager, (Product-Motor), and Sippakorn Saeiao (Engineering Manager, Technology). Said Sippakorn: “I’ve always enjoyed connecting with others and Discovery Day was a wonderful opportunity to do so. It’s nice to learn more about how other teams are also contributing to Liberty’s success. While we may still work with other teams and colleagues on a daily basis, there may still be areas that are yet to be explored. Discovery Day is one way of providing that.” For Nguyen Hoang Diep, Compliance Leader, Vietnam, the Day was a great way for departments to showcase their work, and how, through collaboration, they did things right (a Liberty value). The talks by the experts were something Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Senior Manager (Operations; Vietnam) welcomed. “The event attracted everyone with a wide range of exciting activities and the occasion to engage employees and explore interesting topics,” she said. #workatLiberty #insurance #professionaldevelopment #teamwork #collaboration #interns #internships
