    POP MART is 𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 the world by storm with Labubu & we 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐓 pay attention to what’s happening!!🚨👇 Labubu may not seem like the typical “cute” character & that was shown as it was initially overshadowed by Pop Mart’s popular characters like Molly in the early days. However, one Instagram post by K-pop star Lisa changed everything, sparking an insane demand for Labubu. While Lisa’s influence contributed to the craze, several deeper factors have propelled Labubu to global fame. Here are 3 other core pillars (besides Lisa) behind Labubu’s rise: 📈𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬/𝐊𝐞𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫e & 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 While Labubu has soared in popularity, it’s the plush keychains popularized by Lisa’s Instagram post that are flying off shelves, not the vinyl figures. Keychains & trinkets have transitioned from niche fandoms to mainstream, now even appearing in high fashion. Unlike vinyl figures, keychains allow people to bring their favorite characters into daily life, subtly showcasing the person’s interests & inviting connection. This shift reflects a rising desire for social bonds in a digital age plagued with loneliness. Joining trends like having a Labubu offers people a shortcut to social connection, with ownership serving as a ticket into a social circle. Labubus often sell out, with fans lining up or paying premium resale prices to secure one. This scarcity drives FOMO, a powerful motivator especially for impulse purchases. Just as kids used to envy classmates with the latest toy, adults now chase Labubu collectibles, adding to their value as a kind of social currency. Owning a Labubu now offers instant social credibility & status, marking someone as one of the “cool kids.” It’s even become trendy to display multiple Labubu keychains on designer bags as a symbol of status. What started as a simple blind box toy has evolved into a luxury statement item. ⬆️𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐬 The Labubu plush keychains are not your typical plush keychains as its face, hands & feet are vinyl with the body being plush. Elevating the value of the plush keychain by making it feel like a collectible figure while still maintaining the cute & inviting feeling plushies have. When I saw Labubus popularity, I instantly thought of the rise of Sonny Angels and their viral "Hippers" product, which mirrors the rise of Labubu. These two cases show a recurring pattern with these seemingly one-off success stories which allows us to be able to recreate similar effects to our own brands.     Your clients need more than just a logo…they need a visual identity! 🙌 It’s one thing to design a kickass logo for your client, but if you want to really inject as much value into their business and be able to charge more for your creative services, you should think about offering a visual identity. A visual identity is everything that comes after the logo. This is the design language your clients are going to use to communicate. A VI should be a cohesive design system that helps represents your clients values and missions and helps them tell their story to the people that matter. Take a look at this new vis identity I just put together for Nerds. Nerds are on a mission to turn everyday objects into vessels of joy and eco-conscious living for brands all across the world. They want to make merch that is cherished, not chucked. ♻️ So with this in mind, I approached the brief with a fun, retro inspired illustration of a neutral mascot character (called Ned) that could represent all of the awesome products Nerds have to offer. To elevate that brand, I turned some of these products into joyful little characters of their own. This helped widen Nerds visual creative assets and bring joy to its communication. Im proud to say that this identity was signed off first time! I used my ultimate visual identity presentation template to present this idea to the Nerds Team.
