Exciting news! 🚨 Since 26 June 2024, two new Codes of Practice have come into effect under the Online Criminal Harms Act (OCHA), boosting your online safety and security. The Online Communication Code requires online services with the highest risk of scams (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram and WeChat) to put in place measures to proactively disrupt scams and malicious cyber activities. This means fewer scams and a more secure online environment for all of us! Meanwhile, with the E-Commerce Code, sellers and advertisers on online services that facilitate e-commerce activities and pose the highest risk of e-commerce scams (Carousell, Facebook Marketplace, Facebook Advertisements and Facebook Pages) are required to verify their identities against government-issued records. Now, you can shop online with added confidence and peace of mind. Learn more about how these changes will benefit you: https://go.gov.sg/ocha Let’s stay safe and secure online! 💪🔒🌐

This year, the Translators Immersion Programme (TIP) returned to Malaysia for our annual exchange between the information ministries of Singapore and Malaysia on translation for government communications. Hosted by Malaysia’s Department of Information Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia (JaPen), Ministry of Communications, the MCI delegation gained useful insights during their visits to CALC, UPM, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Malaysian Translators Association, Parliament of Malaysia, Industrial Court of Malaysia and National Library over the week-long programme. Through the interactions, we observed that digitalisation has become an increasingly important and necessary tool to assist in language and translation efforts on the national level. Both Singapore and Malaysia are tapping on digital tools to further enhance productivity and efficiency in connecting with our citizens. Thank you, JaPen for the warm hospitality and enriching experience, and MCI looks forward to hosting the Malaysian team next year!
