🌟 Exciting News from TFood Conference 2024! 🌟 The TFood Conference 2024, organized by TUMCREATE as part of the #Protein4Singapore program, was a tremendous success. We gained valuable insights from the panel discussions, presentations, and posters. Additionally, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with new friends and reconnect with old ones. A big thank you to TUMCREATE for the invitation! We were honored to be exhibitors at the conference. Alongside innovative startups like KosmodeHealth Singapore and Altimate Nutrition, and established corporations such as Bühler Group, we showcased our groundbreaking product, FibProt. FibProt is a functional protein powder upcycled from okara. Following our success with NuCheese at the Upcycle Revival Challenge 2024, we introduced our new block cheese and cream cheese made with FibProt. The feedback was overwhelmingly valuable. It is quite positive, especially for our cream cheese's texture and taste. Our proprietary fermentation technology transforms okara, eliminating its gritty texture and adding functionalities like emulsification and thickening. This innovation aligns with the latest AgriFood megatrends, emphasizing sustainability and nutrition. 🌟 Celebrating Innovation and Sustainability at the Upcycle Revival Challenge 2024! 🌟 Last Friday, August 30, 2024, marked the grand finale of the Upcycle Revival Challenge 2024 (URC 2024), organized by Singapore Polytechnic, the Food Innovation and Resource Centre (FIRC) Singapore, Enterprise Singapore, and the @Singapore Food Manufacturing Association (SFMA). We are proud to have been part of this incredible event, sponsored by KH Roberts and FoodPlant Pte Ltd. Eight food SMEs and startups, including @Tan Seng Kee Foods, Fish Soup Paradise, the @Soy Company (@Mr. Bean), @Hara Soy, Dole Food Company, Mycrocell, Mycosortia, and KosmodeHealth Singapore, participated in this challenge. Mycosortia was thrilled to be among the participants! The challenge engaged final-year project students from Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Chemical & Life Sciences to develop innovative, sustainable foods using side streams from the food industry. Students from the @School of Media, Arts and Design also played a crucial role in designing packaging and marketing strategies. After six months hard work, the team came out with the “Nu-Cheese” prototype, featuring up to 50% raw okara, boasts a smooth texture and a distinct cheese flavor—truly “cheesier than cheese.” At the URC 2024 finale, “Nu-Cheese” impressed audiences with its taste and texture, making it a fantastic option for lactose-intolerant consumers. We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to participate in URC 2024. A huge thank you to the students for their hard work and innovation, and to the Future Food Lab (FFL) of Singapore Polytechnic for providing the space, facilities, and supervision for the students to conduct this project. It is exciting to participate in The Upcycle Revival Challenge.
🚀 We're thrilled to launch The Upcycle Revival Challenge 2024, co-organized with Enterprise Singapore and Singapore Food Manufacturers' Association. The challenge kicked off with an opening address by Ms. Evelyn Ong, Centre Director of the Food Innovation and Resource Centre (FIRC) Singapore, setting the stage for a day of innovation and sustainability. During her opening speech, Ms. Evelyn Ong highlighted the aim of URC 2024, emphasizing the promotion of innovation in upcycling food waste to create higher-value products. She also underscored the importance of empowering local food manufacturers to actively participate in the Singapore Green Plan, and the need for collaborative efforts to achieve sustainability goals in the food industry. Following the opening address, a trend-sharing session on "The State of Sustainability in Southeast Asia" was led by Mintel.🌏 Consumer Lifestyle Analyst, Yunn Lim, from Mintel discussed consumer sentiments toward sustainability and various corporate initiatives promoting sustainability. Key highlights included different types of #upcycled food products, and strategies to appeal to consumers. Students from the Diploma of Food Science & Technology and the Media, Arts and Design, Design for Communication & Experience also had the opportunity to visit the participating companies, gaining insights into their backgrounds and exploring their side streams.
