It was a pleasure to speak at an event organised by Enterprise Singapore last week. The event was part of SLINGSHOT, a global deep tech startup pitching competition. The Top 50 finalists of the competition got to go through a three-day physical immersion programme designed to let them experience the Singapore startup ecosystem firsthand. This week, they get to pitch on the main stage at Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH), a massive event that brings founders, investors and industry leaders together for three days. My talk? A very condensed version of my "CRM Is Not a Four-letter Word" presentation designed to get startups thinking about pipeline design and RevOps early in their journey. Thank you HubSpot For Startups for the invitation to speak in your slot and to the ACE.SG (Action Community for Entrepreneurship) for helping shine a global light on our startup ecosystem. #SLINGSHOT2024

Last month, we had the privilege of helping Granite Asia shape the stories behind the NextGen Tech 30 Awards, showcasing ASEAN's top Growth-stage companies. In the process, we had the opportunity to take a deeper dive and explore some of these innovative businesses. 🚀💡 What’s truly exciting for us is not just the names we recognised, but also the companies that have been quietly making a significant impact—like Gradiant, Patsnap and Chickin Indonesia. These companies are solving critical problems with creativity and determination, and the resilience, focus and humility of their founders and key teams have driven their growth and success. 🌏 It’s a reminder of what it takes to lead through challenges and deliver impactful solutions. 🎉👏 Jenny LeeRita YangJeffrey T.Guan Dian(Tebe) Tubagus Syailendra WangsadisastraGovind AlagappanGregory Van #NextGenTech30 #GraniteAsia #Innovation #GrowthStage Sylvia Saw McKaigeDavid McKaigePearlyn HoZachary PestanaAneesha SubramaniamYi Dan HuangFerlin FrangeSherry Chuazar ni

Nothing brings a team together like great food and even greater company! 🥂 We recently gathered for a well-deserved team lunch to celebrate the team's dedication and hard work. Recognition is more than just a thank you – it’s about fostering a positive culture where everyone feels valued and motivated to do their best. Our headquarters in Singapore is on the edge of Chinatown, but this is a land of immigrants (and foodies), so you will find cuisine from southern Indian to Korean to Japanese and, of course, Chinese all within a stone's throw. We are a diverse team with diverse dietary requirements, and Espoir on Amoy Street was our choice for this meal. In their own words, it is "refined Modern European Cuisine laced with Malayan influence and made Halal." And they have vegetarian dishes, too 😊. Here’s to more wins, more laughs, and more delicious moments! Sylvia Saw McKaigeDavid McKaigePearlyn HoZachary PestanaYi Dan HuangAneesha SubramaniamFerlin FrangeNadia JamalSherry Chuazar ni

The modern B2B buyer journey involves multiple stakeholders, multiple touch points, and long buying cycles. In fact, most studies say that today’s buyer has done the bulk of their research well before they raise a hand to speak to sales. That’s why our house view is that B2B marketing IS content marketing. Your goal as a marketer, salesperson, or PMM is to enable the buyer in his journey. But many brands struggle to find the time and the resources to create the content necessary to educate and inform their prospects, demonstrate thought leadership, earn their trust and grow their business. The answer isn’t churning out mediocre content at scale using offshore blog farms or worse, by using the AI tool of the week. Today’s B2B buyer is smarter than ever before and has ungated access to an enormous amount of information. The old content marketing playbook simply doesn’t work any more. Your competitive advantage is the industry knowledge and experience inside the heads of your Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The people on the team who know your industry, understand your customers and stand behind your product have valuable insights that need to be shared.      At Salween Group, we make it easy for you to unlock that value and start sharing your brand’s insights by bundling our core content marketing consultancy with copywriting and design services in a package optimised for a 90-day sprint. We call it the Content Marketing Kickstarter. Link in comments. Reach out if you want to learn more.

🌟 Out among the Fintech stars last week for #Fintech65. Fintech65 is a talent initiative from Fintech Nation that identifies and recognises emerging and proven leaders in the space. The event is in its third year, and the 2024 edition recognised leaders in the Women Board Members, Emerging Investors, and Friends of Fintech categories. Our Founder & CEO Sylvia Saw McKaige made the list and was recognised among the Friends of Fintech 🎉. Thanks Fintech Nation and partners Elevandi, Thunes and Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) for bringing all the nominees together so they can continue to innovate and drive forward Singapore's fintech industry. Over the past year, we've been building out our revenue operations consultancy offering, and co-marketing with HubSpot and HubSpot For Startups has been a big part of that. Here David McKaige shares our latest initiative.

B2B Marketing Ops Leader & Creative Technologist. Director of Operations at the Salween Group.

Last week I had an opportunity to talk to some early-stage Founders here in Singapore about transitioning from Founder-led sales to a proper sales-led growth motion, and walked through how a sales process can be expressed and managed in a CRM. The opening headline was "CRM is not a four-letter word." 😀 As a B2B marketing agency, we traditionally work with scaleups from Series B onwards, where they usually have clear positioning and product-market fit. That's where marketing can really make a difference. But we are finding our revenue operations advisory services to be really useful for early-stage companies. It helps them avoid expense mistakes and waste valuable time. Thanks Gwenllian Ching at HubSpot For Startups for inviting me to speak, Cherylene Hammond for being my wingman, and the teams from Tin Men Capital and Wavemaker Partners for their support and contributions to the discussion!

B2B Marketing Ops Leader & Creative Technologist. Director of Operations at the Salween Group.

If you believe LinkedIn, I started as Director of Operations at Salween Group 10 years ago today. I was close to the Founder and CEO, and thought her two-year-old company would be a great place to work. Was I ever wrong. It is an 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 place to work 😀. For those who don't already know, my background is in broadcast news. For 20 years, I had the honour and privilege of covering breaking news with datelines from Beijing to Bosnia. I first met my boss-to-be in Bangkok in 1997 at the start of the Asian Financial Crisis. She was working for CNBC and was in town to produce the network's live coverage from the epicentre of the crisis. We married the next year 🤵👰. Sylvia Saw McKaige, thank you for being an amazing partner for the past 25 years and an amazing employer for the past 10. Our transition from news and current affairs to content marketing was easy. • It is about listening. • It is about storytelling. • It is about distilling the complex into the relatable. • It is about becoming a subject matter expert in anything in a day. • It is about curiosity. And most of all, it is about wanting to make a difference. It has been a pleasure to work with the founders and marketing leaders in our client roster over the past decade, hopefully making a difference in their lives. Thank you for trusting me and the rest of the Salween Group team and allowing us to serve you. I look forward to the next decade!
