Contemporary. Maori. Art. Words you were (I was) not used to associating. Hatupatu will help change your perspective and your expectations. "Kurungaituku : A Forbidden Love" is a story of survival and love between the young Te Arawa warrior Hatupatu and the unique bird woman that is Kurungaituku. Above everything else, it is an awe-inspiring combination of breathtaking aerials and heartwarming kapa haka in an immersive multi-media performance environment. Based on the Te Arawa kōrero of Hatupatu and the bird woman, this thrilling aerial production by Taki Rua will envelop you in a one of a kind experience that evokes the forests and thermal forces of Rotorua. The idea of developing theatre works through a distinctively Māori lens and contributing to the narrative of theatre and te whare tapere is a uniquely New Zealander story. I encourage all, locals and tourists, young and above, to experience what it feels like. Through building common roots and a shared vision fo the world and its legends, we are building the Aotearoa New Zealand we want to leave to our children. Don't miss your chance to be enlightened. If you do not feel an extreme urge to learn Te Reo Maori after attending the show, you may be left with having to learn French as a punishment. Run to @Qtheatre before Friday. I will repay you myself if you don't like it (and let me know if you are going ) Joseph Michael Helen Klisser During David Downs Alliance Française Auckland Anne Lofts Helene Thomas Delphine David Francois de Cannart Frankie Coulter Timothy Huse Charlotte Gordon Lone Vinther Tapp Alexandra Touchaud Erin Aspros Book your seat here before they go South. https://lnkd.in/gNTh7C-m

Last year I contributed to the first Asia-inspired WARC global guide on Creating Cultural Advantage (piece on demand for those who are not yet subscribers to WARC :-)). If you know me, you know that cultural intelligence, in the broad sense, is one of my professional passion and a life journey. I will be taking part in a FREE webinar roundtable on 6 Feb, from 5-6PM SGT (10 PM Auckland/ 10 AM Paris/ 3 AM Guatemala City - sorry guys). We'll unpack key questions, provide case studies, and offer best practices on: 🌍 How changes in global culture is changing 'glocal' marketing 🔮 Key trends impacting the cultural landscape and why this benefits marketers in Asia 🤝 Adapting the way we work to enable brands to grow ⚡ Navigating cultural sensitivities and reputational risk in a highly polarised environment Join me together with Brand Finance's Alex Haigh, Cherry Blossom's Laurence Lim and our host for the day, WARC's Rica Facundo.
