Our founding Partner Chee (SheueChee) Beh had a blast speaking at the MRC | Merchant Risk Council Southeast Asia 2024 in Singapore last week! Topic of Discussion: Expanding Horizons: Southeast Asian Companies Entering the South American Market Panelists: Laurice Romero from Canva and Yash Y. from dLocal moderated by the fabulous Lee Clifton from Stripe. Here are the 3 key takeaways from our lively session: 1. Regulatory Landscape of LATAM: Navigating the maze of currencies and languages in LATAM is no joke. Understanding local payment methods is crucial. So, how many options do you really need? Identifying the key payment methods tailored to your needs in LATAM is essential! 2. Customer Experience (UX): What do your customers truly want? 🤔 Expectations can differ across countries, so don't overlook the importance of language translation! After all, who doesn’t love a personalized touch? 3. Partnerships are Key: Teaming up with experts is a smart move, but remember—don’t just trust anyone blindly! Asking the right questions around partnerships is essential. Do your homework! It's not just about those payment fees; think about service quality, product reach, and reliability. A little diligence goes a long way! In discussing similarities and differences, Chee (SheueChee) Beh used the analogy of spicy food—comparing jalapeños and chili padi🌶️. Both pack a punch, but their flavour profiles are worlds apart! This reflects how different regions and markets may have similar challenges but require tailored local approaches. 💡Bonus Insight: Beyond EQ and IQ, cultural intelligence is a new secret ingredient for cross-regional success. The more you know, the more you grow! 🌍 Chee (SheueChee) Beh also had a fantastic time networking, reconnecting with old pals, and making new friends. Huge thanks to Julie Fergerson, CPFPP (CEO of MRC | Merchant Risk Council for the warm invitation—oh, and let’s not forget the food was absolutely delicious! 🍽️ #MRC #Payments #TravelandPayments

Founder, Mitt Arv ¦ Partner, Travel & Payments ¦ IIM Calcutta alumnus ¦ Ex Expedia, Microsoft, VISA

5 years ago, I went on a Round The World Trip. It was a trip of a lifetime, covering 7 Continents, 10 Countries in 10 weeks. Starting Mitt Arv and Travel & Payments has been another journey of a lifetime. With Mitt Arv, while our Core Product remains the digital Platform, we've identified the need for Financial Literacy and educating on the need for Financial Hygiene. Yesterday, we launched one such initiative. Using the photos I took, that Round The World Trip was immortalised into our first product of a new line of business "Legacy, by Mitt Arv" with a vision of imparting Financial Literacy & need for Financial Hygiene. Notebooks (unruled, 192 pages, around 50 GSM, in sets of 8, with one cover page for each of the continents and a bonus 8th one), is now available for purchase in Hyderabad. We are going shop to shop to get the uptick and feedback, but if you are reading this and based in Hyderabad, please reach out and we'd be pleased to ship a set or more to you or your kids or padosan ke bache. We could do bulk shipping outside of Hyderabad if needed. #legacy #startup #bootstrapped
