This strategic collaboration was inked by Omid Aschari and our Chairman Chavalit Frederick Tsao at UN’s Summit of the Future during Climate Week 2024, representing our commitment to reshape university systems worldwide to drive sustainability and accelerate progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the core of this partnership is the creation of a university focusing on sustainability, spearheaded by Octave Institute. This institution will serve as a new model of higher education systems globally, embracing a holistic approach that prioritises innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility. TPC and OCTAVE Institute Limited aim to cultivate professionals who can lead market transformations, drive social change and champion environment responsibility. Yesterday, our Group Chief Corporate Officer Niap Juan Loh shared his keen insights at Milken Institute’s #MIGlobal #AsiaSummit 2024 on the panel, “Ships and Chips Revisited: Making Sense of Global Trade Challenges.”    He spoke on the complexities of global supply chain, delicate political alignments and the evolving landscape of trade. Niap also expressed optimism for transformative and positive disruptions in the shipping industry, suggesting a solution in the accelerated adoption of technologies like digital trade and blockchain. We are thrilled to announce that TPC's No.17 Foundation has partnered with OceanX, the groundbreaking ocean exploration nonprofit under Dalio Philanthropies, to drive innovation in ocean research, conservation, and leadership development. Our chairman, Chavalit Frederick Tsao, together with Mark Dalio, Founder, Co-CEO OceanX, inked a momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aboard OceanX last Friday evening, paving the way for us to push the boundaries of marine science and nurture the next generation of leaders dedicated to restoring our oceans and protecting #marine #biodiversity.   Together, we will design and implement a long-term research project addressing ocean challenges, building on No.17 Foundation’s support of OceanX’s mission in Indonesia. TPC (Tsao Pao Chee) nonprofit, OCTAVE Institute Limited will also be brought on board to develop an approach to bring quantum thinking to future ocean leaders, helping them develop new perspectives and empowering them to co-create innovative solutions for restoring nature. This multi-year collaboration leverages our organisations' expertise, highlighting the power of strategic alliances to amplify impact and advance sustainable ocean conservation and management.   As Community Leads within Temasek Trust's Philanthropy Asia Alliance Blue Oceans Community, both TPC and Dalio Philanthropies are committed to scaling solutions focused on the sustainable use and conservation of oceans and marine resources across Asia. At TPC (Tsao Pao Chee), we are committed to the belief that small, purposeful actions drive significant change. Our recent Beach Clean-Up & Mangrove Adventure exemplifies this philosophy in action.   On September 11th, about 40 of our dedicated colleagues, including our Chief Strategy Officer, James Ong, MBA, CPA, and Head of Sustainability, TAN Chee Wee 陈志伟, came together at Pasir Ris Beach for a meaningful day of environmental stewardship and team collaboration. Together, we removed approximately 38 kg of waste, contributing to the reduction of ocean pollution and the protection of marine ecosystems. Our team also explored a unique mangrove forest, gaining insights into their vital role in carbon sequestration, nature-based climate solutions and the thriving #biodiversity. Beyond the physical clean-up, the activity was also a reflection of how, in the process of clearing garbage from our surroundings, we clear the clutter in our minds and hearts—renewing our commitment to a cleaner, healthier planet and self.   We are delighted of our team's contributions and extend our gratitude to Biogirl MJ and the Just Keep Thinking team for leading this impactful event. Earlier this month, our Chief Strategy Officer, James Ong, MBA, CPA, had the pleasure of sitting on the keynote opening panel of Japan Investors Forum 2024 in Tokyo. Together with his esteemed panelists, James discussed the strong fundamentals of Japan's economy. He shared that there is growing international interest in investing in Japan, not just due to the weak yen but because of the positive fundamentals. This interest is driven by the Tokyo Stock Exchange's efforts to improve capital efficiency, which will unlock value for Japanese companies and fuel further corporate governance reforms. TPC is poised to expand its investments in Japan, not just in real estate but also in operating businesses across the industrial and well-being sectors. In a strong showing of action leadership, TPC (Tsao Pao Chee) is thrilled to announce our #collaboration with the NUS Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) at the NUS Business School to establish the Well-being and EESG Academy (WEGA).   WEGA, focusing on Economics, Environmental, Social, and Governance (EESG), aims to lead #research and #education for a uniquely Asian approach to #sustainability. With an SGD $1 million seed fund from TPC, WEGA will position businesses as the key driver behind ESG practices to advance a sustainable #wellbeing and happiness economy.   Our Chairman, Chavalit Frederick Tsao, emphasises the urgency of this mission: “We are at the eleventh hour to find a holistic solution to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). NUS, as the number one business school in Asia, is the perfect partner to drive this change. WEGA will be a place for research, community building, and change, promoting public, private, and philanthropy partnerships.
