ENG vs SLO, Euro 2024 Highlights: Slovenia secures last-16 spot after holding England to 0-0 draw

And that seems to be it for the night as the referee blows the whistle for full-time. England ends the group stage as Group C toppers. 

Slovenia also confirms qualification after finishing as one of the best third-placed teams.

Brilliant backheel from Mainoo to feed the ball to Kane just outside the box. He lays the ball off to Cole Palmer on the right. He runs up to it and hits it first time straight into the hands of Oblak. 

Slovenia: Janza is replaced by Jure Balkovec

Four minutes of added time to play.

England: Foden is replaced by Anthony Gordon

Walker who has shifted to the left-back position, plays a cross-field pass out to Cole Palmer who is fouled by Janza. Foden whips in the freekick which is cleared away by the Slovenian defence.

Slovenia: Mlakar and Sporar are replaced by Jon Gorenc Stankovic and Zan Celar

England: Trippier is replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Play is stopped as Janza goes down on the right side of the pitch after a collision with Jude Bellingham. Match resumes after he is given medical attention.

Foden is shown a yellow card for dissent.

Slovenia: Sesko is replaced by Josip Ilicic.

Foden plays a ball to Rice on the left edge of the box. The ball bounces in front of Rice who hits it with power. The shot goes wide of the goal in the end.

Bijol is booked for pulling down Harry Kane while he was trying to go through on goal. England gets a freekick in a good position. The freekick in from Trippier is cleared away from danger.

England: Saka is replaced by Cole Palmer

Confusion between Stones and Guehi in the middle of the pitch and Slovenia is on the counter. Guehi stops the attack by pulling down Sporar. He earns himself a yellow card for the challenge.

Slovenia is struggling to get out of its own half. Finally, Cerin gets the ball outside the box and goes for a shot with his left. It goes wide of the left post in the end.

England is passing the ball around in the final third. Rice plays a cross-field pass to Wlaker who lays it off for Mainoo. He whips a cross into the box which goes over Harry Kane’s head.

Mainoo is brought down in Slovenia’s half by Drkusic. Foden whips in a cross which is nicked away from Kane by a header from Bijol. 

Kane plays a diagonal ball to Walker inside the box. He tries to cross it back into the middle on the volley but ends up saying the ball into the stands.

Saka now plays another ball through for Kane on the right. He takes a touch and drills a ball into the middle. Bijol slides into to make a block and concede a corner.

England has started the half slowly as expected. Saka links up with Mainoo on the right wing who tries to play Bellingham through. He gets past a defender and settles for a corner.

Slovenia kicks off the second half, shooting from right to left. 

England: Kobbie Mainoo replaces Gallagher

As it stands, England is top of the group while Slovenia takes the runner-up spot.

No added time as the referee blows the whistle for half time.

Corner comes in from the right for England. Once again it goes over everybody and Slovenia gets a freekick after Rice pushes Cerin while contesting for the ball.

Trippier receives the ball from Bellingham on the left side of the pitch. He plays an in-swinging cross which is missed by everyone including a stretching Harry Kane who just had to get the slightest of touches to direct it towards the goal.

Slovenia is enjoying a good spell of possession. Cerin and Stojanovic link up to set the former up on the right side of the box. Cerin plays a ball into the middle and Janza goes down after a challenge from Saka.

No penalty says the referee.

Saka is brought down close to the penalty box by Bijol. Freekick from a good position for England. Foden and Trippier stand over the ball. Foden strikes the ball with power and forces a decent save from Oblak.

Corner comes in from the right for England. It goes past the box and Rice recovers the ball. He feeds it to Kane on the left edge of the box. He tries to curl it in but Oblak sees it early and makes an easy save.

Slovenia on the attack now. Mlakar gets the ball in the middle and drives into the opponents half. He has Sesko on the left and Sporar on the right. He goes for Sesko but the pass is overhit and Pickford comes off his line and gathers it.

Foden drives into the middle from the left wing. He tries to find Kane with a through ball into the box. But he overhits the pass and the ball races out for a goal kick.

Janza is booked for a foul on Saka. He will miss the next match if Slovenia advances from the group stage.

Trippier plays a ball to Declan Rice at the edge of the box. He spots Foden making a run into the box. Foden takes a touch and squares it to Saka who finishes it into an empty net. But the linesman immediately raises the flag against Foden who had made an early run.

Slovenia has a freekick on the right side of the box. Janza stands over the ball and whips in an in-swinging cross. The ball evades everybody and goes out for a goal kick.

Keiran Trippier is booked for a bad challenge on Karnicnik.

Slovenia gets a throw on the left side of the box and England has switched off. The ball falls to Janza who plays a cross into the box. Sporar rises the highest and the ball goes just over him. A warning for England.

England is playing the ball aorund the back. Foden keeps making runs into the middle but cannot seem to create any chance to score. 

Kane gets the ball in the middle of the pitch and spots Foden making a run on the left. Kane plays a ball over the top but Foden is deemed offside by the linesman. 

Harry Kane tries to play a diagonal ball to Saka on the right wing. Janza reads the pass well and heads it away from danger.

Bellingham gives away the ball in the middle of the pitch. Gallagher commits a foul to stop Slovenia from breaking away. 

Slovenia takes the freekick quickly and a cross comes in left. It goes over Sesko but is laid off to him by Cerin. Sesko is wide open and heads the ball towards goal but cannot generate enough power as Pickford catches it easily.

Slovenia is pressing high in these early minutes. Guehi tries to play the ball over the top under pressure and loses possession.

England kicks off the match shooting from right to left. England only needs one point to take the top spot in Group C. Will it get the better of Slovenia? Stay tuned to find out.

While England already has one foot in the knockout round of Euro 2024 and can finish no lower than third in their group, it needs to make its presence felt at a tournament that has seen optimism around the side wither after two lacklustre games. 

England needs to avoid defeat in Cologne to guarantee progress and will definitely top the group with a win. If Denmark fails to beat Serbia in the other Group C match, England will qualify regardless of its result against Slovenia.
