The 44th edition of the VK Pahuja swimming bulletin, meticulously compiled by Dr. Meenakshi Pahuja, was released by the gallantry award winning former Air Force officer, Air Commodore Dr. Ashminder Singh Bahal, at the India International Centre on Sunday.

The first copy was presented to the senior diving official, PD Dutta.

Commending the work, Dr. Ashminder emphasised the power of sports in character building and appreciated swimming as a sport for health.

On the occasion, the exemplary work of VK Pahuja who had started the bulletin, and his tremendous contribution in various capacity for Indian swimming and the international fraternity was fondly remembered by a number of persons, including the members of the Swimming Federation of India, Balraj Sharma and Raj Kumar, apart from Arjuna awardees, Col. RS Bhanwala and Bhanu Sachdeva.

The utility of the bulletin, with all details and statistics of local, national and international aquatics, was heartily acknowledged by everyone.

For the three children of VK Pahuja, Priyank and Dr. Supriya, apart from Dr. Meenakshi, the effort in bringing out the bulletin on the same date in June every year, has been a sheer labour of love.

Dr. Meenakshi, an Associate Professor of Lady Shri Ram College, has won many international medals in swimming and is a recipient of the Nari Shakti Puraskar award from the President.

The latest bulletin, running into 460 pages has a number of articles on diet, injury management, health advice etc., from doctors, lecturers and swimmers. It has a series of interviews of prominent and promising swimmers and coaches. Most importantly, the book has a list of all Indian participation in the international arena, spanning 90 years.

A ready reckoner for the aquatic fraternity, the bulletin has thoughtfully got a section for the Paris Olympics.
